Easyjet CH will base a 14th plane in GVA which will be an A320, adding 230 000 seats this year and 300 000 seats next year. It will mainly be used to catch a bigger portion of the business traffic by adding frequencies on a few routes.

HB-JNG's transponder was active around noon (CET), so she's nearing completion! This will make room for HB-JME & HB-JMF to leave the fleet to WK. This frame will be used to get the SIN flight to daily 77W ops.
Current planning is that HB-JNG will arrive in ZRH the 16th of Feb in the morning.
flown: F50,F70,CR1,CR2,CR9,E75,143,AR8,AR1,733,735,736,73G,738,753,763,744,77W,788,319,320,321,333,AB6.

With HB-JND still in Iqaluit awaiting repairs, several a/c changes throughout the network will remain to take place within the LX network.
When HB-JNG is delivered she will be put in operation within 1 day as LX178/17 to SIN.

The next CS100 will be put in operation as currently planned as per 22FEB. No details yet of the delivery flight ex Mirabel.
Does anyone have info on the next AR1 to leave the fleet? HB-IXT ??

I have no information about the delivery flight yet.

First Swiss CS-300 flight scheduled seems to be GVA-LHR LX352 on May 15.

A number of GVA based routes have also now been loaded as CS1 or CS3 for the upcoming summer timetable.

Wow...
BBD better step up their game or they won't be able to deliver those targeted 12 deliveres for LX in 2017.
It's mid February and not even one delivery occured. Will they really be able to deliver 2 frames a month? I doubt it...

Furthermore, Swiss will cease their flights on the GVA-FCO route (currently 4 weekly flights are operated). GVA sees another service reduction as EY will operate only 5 weekly flights to AUH for some months during this upcoming Summer.

On the other hand, EZY will open two additional routes with flights to MRS and Calvi (CLY) being added. The service to MRS will be flown 3/7 starting on March 28 while the flights to CLY will run seasonally twice weekly from June to September.

The remaining Avro's can still be seen on many routes. Only today AR1's are scheduled to fly to : BHX,BRU,FLR,GVA,HAJ,LCY,MAN,MXP,NCE,PRG,SOF,TXL & VCE. And a reliefflight from STN back to ZRH after a earlier diversion (HB-IXO, yesterday LCY-ZRH div. STN due to technical issues).

So many stations still see the AR1 passing by regularly.

Some news about GVA:

The public terrasse will reopen. We will then be able to watch planes without having to go the the most expensive restaurant of the airport: https://mobile2.24heures.ch/articles/58 ... 618a000001

The grass runway will be definitely closed. This will lead small propeller aircrafts to use the main runway. This will let the airport develop the northern aperon for bis jets or parking stands. France is also interested to built isn't own terminal on the northern side as the current one is at maximum capacity:
https://mobile2.tdg.ch/articles/588a3b4 ... 6b90000001

The airport will invest in a state of the art security system:
https://m.lecourrier.ch/146730/securite ... e_aeroport

The airport has been all over the news latently since his new director, André Schneider, former EPFL director has been put into office. Finally the PISA plan that defines needs for the airport by the Confederation will be out in fall 2017. We should still hear big stuff about developpement. Such as the possible extension of the current crowed 1968 terminal over the motorway.

On a personal note I am very happy to finally see someone with a vision managing this place. Geneva airport has a huge potential that has never truly been explored.

Skyliner aviation news reports about a CV340 being prepared to be ferried to Europe.

Well, I didn't either, but I'm not surprised: it's called overcapacity with 2daily EK and 1 daily QR flight ( beside EY ), not forgetting, RJ, KU and SV to the ME as well and between 3 and 4 daily TK flights which provide an excellent alternative for Far East and India flights. It's a pity for EY, as they were the first of the ME3 to serve GVA, but after opening ZRH and transferring their local management there , they clearly showed that ZRH had become their priority Swiss market.

I'm surprised because it's also during the months of May and June.
I would kind of understand if it was only September and October, but not during the months when you would expect to have the most passangers, the high season when it's the busiest with Arab tourists.

KU is another ball game entirely. The sole purpose of the flight is to serve the Kuwaiti Royal House. They want to have a direct link between the Kingdom and the international organisations here. The A320 is never even half full.
RJ too dosen't operate at full capacity, same for SV. (With the exception being the summer months, you know that, we will see 21 x 777-300ER flights.)

At least it's not permanent. They also do want to bring the 787s here ASAP apparently. I recall reading somewhere that their A333s are in bad shape. The problem being is that this batch of 787s are in a 2-class config. They need first class here. So I imagine next year we will indeed see 787s with Etihad, if they do get 3-class birds by then.

I must say, I would rather a 1 or 2 direct flights a day to Asia (DEL, SIN, BKK or any other significant Asian city ) and have less of the ME3 carriers and flights. GVA's potential isn't endless and considering environmental issues, the available runway and terminal capacity, it should focus on quality air services rather than quantity. And let's not forget, GVA is only Switzerland's 2nd airport after ZRH which has better possibilities and advantages to develop it's traffic. As far as I'm concerned, I'm far less worried about the possible loss of a ME carrier than about CA's resumption of ZRH service which will be 4 weekly flights while GVA's summer offer will apparently reduced to 3 flights. For how long ?
I agree, as a 2nd airport is as small a country as Switzerland, you have to accept the longhaul services you can get, beggars can't be choosers... : :D

QR will soon introduce the A350 to cater to the business demand, and Etihad wants to bring in the 787. Geneva is still a profitable market for them and they are still using A333s on the route, which features First class. I doubt they are going anywhere anytime soon!

I think they will one day come too, especially SIN and BKK. The A350 should do it for Singapore, and probably a 787-8 for Thai. But I don't think it will be before the East Wing is completed.

Tbh 'auf dem Radar' is the vaguest commitment possible just shy of outright denying any interest. As manager for Switzerland there are few options beyond a) increasing ZRH or b) adding Geneva if they want to grow, so it should be 'on the radar' for him.

GVA generates more revenue to SQ than some of their existing online European destinations. SQ can't have no interest. Both SQ and GVA airport have confirmed their current discussion to me but don't expect a new service within the next two years.

I quite agree, Mr Ranjan Jha used a polite and diplomatic way to say: " no way ". You would have got the same answer from the CEO of MIAT, Bhutan Airways or similar airlines. SQ has had GVA on the radar for at least 30 years, so that answer was really no news at all. Ok, never say never, but I still say " seeing is believing". Remember the HU announcement about 10 years back, a big show with press conference, announcing a GVA-PEK route and then.. they operated ZRH-PEK, at least for a while before closing the route again.

I would say at least 3 years.
They certainly wouldn't want to come with not even a single gate left on the ground for a widebody.

Does SRTechnics have a base in AMM that LX sends their aircraft there for maintenance. Are there plans to also upgrade the A333's with the same product as found on the B77W's. Given that the A333's will be due for D checks around 2019 it would be a good opportunity to do it then

On a other note LX1343 operated by a C Series HB-JBE from WAW to ZRH had to get cancelled today due to a bird strike on inbound flight

Thanks LX8626 and DALCE

It would be nice to see someday that LX will offer identical cabin product on their entire long haul fleet

I think it's quite normal that a larger network carrier does not have identical product throughout the fleet.
KLM, LH, BA, IB all have various stages of hard product in their respective fleets.
To costly to refurbish the whole fleet every 2nd year or so...
