Transaero 747 In Dublin For Paint

Wed Mar 16, 2016 4:53 pm

Former Transaero 747-400 EI-XLE has positioned to DUB for painting into Rossiya livery. Is any more known about the proposed new livery?

Aren't the Transaero 747 going to Rossiya for leisure routes? I don't think they're going to SU, although I'd love to be prove wrong.

At least it's a nice change from the billboard/eurowhite liveries and those with large cheatlines.

Stunning. Modern and fresh, but very Russian. Reminds me of the Winter Olympics.

Although in comparison to the Transaero 'livery' that's not too hard.

Full marks for originality and creativity, but I'm missing the point about what's Russian about it.

I hope it gets the same upgrades on the inside as it is has on the outside. Imagine the excitement upon seeing this plane, only to be greeted by an interior from the late 90s. The plane just turned 17 years old! First delivered to JAL on 18/03/1999.

An aircraft that is 17 years old is young.

eurowhite

One of the sorts of questions I've always wondered about but have been too afraid to ask:

What makes "eurowhite" different from "white"? Many carriers quite remote from the continent of Europe use dominantly white liveries. Are Qantas, Delta, Ethiopian liveries in "eurowhite" or are they australwhite, ameriwhite, and...afrowhite...respectively?

I think I recall reading at one point it having to do with AF (maybe?) abandoning the then-ubiquitous cheat line and beginning a trend of a cleaner fuselage look.

I'm not very sure about the new livery. It is too... full of things. Seems modern, but i'm not sure if I like it (though I hate the current FV livery).
The XLE will have a busy life, scheduled from april 3 weekly VKO-KHV-VKO and 3 weekly (4 from july) VKO-VVO-VKO. This will put this plane on the air over 18 hours a day, with very short stops at VKO, VVO or KHV airports.

Yes, there will be a replacement aircraft (772 or 773) but they'll soon need another one. Maybe they could take another of those many 744's parked either in DME or in Teruel Airfield (Spain).
The configuration is 510Y/12C. Maybe it was used on domestic routes in Japan, but this is a pretty uncomfortable way to do domestic Russia!

You've lost me. It was one of Transaero's, I thought?

I seem to remember they were known for their high-density seating. And their 744's were all over the place.

I like the livery, I just think the Rossiya titles need to be quite a bit bigger on such a large aircraft.

From sources I was reading they should be getting up to 14 744s.

Japan? This was UN's configuration and the plane was inherited from them. JAL's seating has been long gone from this bird.

Yup, UN's interiors are a complete mess all the way up until their bankruptcy. I hope Rossiya decides to update some of it and make it uniform amongst its new deliveries because that outdated and worn cabin does not match the shining outside.

I wouldn't mind taking a trip up there to see its departure.

Just imagine, 532 people descending on stairs, to buses at Khabarovsk Novy Airport (it's called New but it is from the 50s, updated in the early 80s, nothing done since then). No jet bridges, nor nothing confortable.
747s in Russia, besides those two routes, as well as UUS, that's all in the east. In the south, it would work, but in summer only, to AER, SIP, and again that's all. Internationally is hard, as Russian's are not flying abroad much because of the economic problems, and because of terrorism. Egypt continues as a banned destination, Turkey the country of the enemy, and Cyprus goes well, albeit the difficulty of getting the visa.
I don't see where can you send those 14 planes, besides BKK or HKT, and eventually PUJ/CUN. But that's all. I don't believe the Russian market can offer so many destinations, given the situation today.

I don't know... Was flying out of DME the other day and boy was it a crowded place with tons of families packed and checkin-in for vacations. No less packed than on the same mid-day timed flights I've had out of DME in a few years past.

The economy is down, by a lot. But to my surprise, people are still flying a bunch. I think the airline will find a place for the aircraft. And if not now, then eventually as things improve.

How does this rank among the densest configurations ever used on the 744?

Look at the bright side: The 747's nose and upper deck are two of the most unique cabin environments in the air. This configuration puts coach seating in both places. This is an opportunity for those of us who can't fly J to get a seat in those spaces!

Looks like it has a permanent bird strike. As mentioned it should have bigger titles amd an additional Anglocized one too.

I popped down yesterday and it was no where to be seen, I think its gone already

On the bright side, I caught a couple of go around as it was blowing 210 with gusts of 17 (Not that I was listening to ATC or anything)

A second Rossiya 744 is in Tel Aviv currently for pre-service maintenance. Meanwhile a A319 is in the new livery, and a ex-Orenair 77E has been put into service although there are no photos around to prove wether its in the new livery as well.
