DL A333 ATL To LAX/SFO

Tue Jan 12, 2016 5:34 pm

Currently, DL is running mostly daily A333 turns between ATL - LAX and SFO (I noticed on and off until April). The same aircraft doing all four flights. Other than the daily ATL - HNL, I don't often see a scheduled domestic A330. Thought this was interesting and decided to share.

I just booked ATL-LAX on 1/28 on this 333 turn a week ago and then saw this TPG post this morning:

http://thepointsguy.com/2016/01/deltas-now-flying-a330-on-transcons/

I wonder if it's scissor rotation back to ATL (?). Where are the A330s based nowadays? Or are they really based anywhere? I noticed today's DAL665 left from F5 at ATL. Looks like prior leg was GIG-ATL today.

There was some discussion of this in another thread about 2 months ago. DL is running a bunch of domestic 333 routes this winter:

The 333 is on MSP-SEA and MSP-LAX as well (temporarily). I'm on one MSP-LAX in late February.

Thanks for that, I am a daily visitor of A.net, but do not remember that thread.

First I have heard of the Transcon A330, that is sweet. Thanks.

I just got off 665 ATL-LAX. Couldn't pass up this 333 ride when you have 5 days off from work. The flight was about 97% load, with about 5-10 open seats. Hopefully I can do the SFO leg next week.

My friend is booked on the ATL-SFO A333 later today and I convinced him to pay extra and upgrade to Business since it is a nicer seat than the usual transcon business from ATL. For some reason it only cost $230 extra for the upgrade from Y, so well worth it.

Waiting to hear back from him about it.

What seats do the A330s feature in business same as the 767? Or 744?

someone correct me, but my guess is that with the launch of LAX-PVG, DL has figured some W flight pattern that rotates their 77L with LAX-SYD, and thus eliminating the need to shuttle the 77L back-n-forth from ATL.

It has been a few years now, I believe. These days usually there is one 767-300ER (rotates with LAX-HND), and the rest of the widebodies on ATL-LAX are the domestic 763s.

In next months (FEB) bid packets it shows us using A333 equipment on quite a few JFK-LAX-JFK flights. I think I even saw a lone 764 flight too! If anyone is on one of the A333 flights you'll probably see me!!

scissor rotation back to ATL (?)

It's just a series of stand-alone domestic runs over the winter. There are no international 333 services out of either LAX or SFO.

When the 77L went onto LAX-NRT & LAX-PVG... so it now rotates to/from ATL via NRT.

Not Delta, but I thought I'd mention (as far as domestic A330 routes go): AA CLT/PHL, CLT/MCO, PHL/MCO.

DL has a A333 scheduled on the ATL-SEA run for parts of Febuary.

IIRC, I flew on a 77L on a ATL-SEA leg several months ago, and I've also flown on them doing ATL-LAX.

AA also does PHL/CLT -PHX on the peak season days on the 332.... I have seen from both PHL and CLT but not at the same time!
