Interesting the engine nacelles are white?

AA's other jets sport the same silver -ish color as the fuselages
on their engine nacelles

Really? I find it underwhelming with the lack of anything on the winglets.

Are they actually white or do they just appear that way because they have the parking stand floodlights shining directly on them? They appear to be similar to the illuminated part of the fuselage.

Flydubai 737 MAX 8 won't enter service until late Q1 2018:

At present, the type is provisionally set to make its maiden appearance from March 25, 2018, onwards with a daily Dubai Int'l-Prague, Czechia, service. It is anticipated that the MAX will be used on other services ahead of this date.

Of the seventy-five B737 MAX it has on order from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare), flydubai has thus far taken delivery of two, both of which are inactive at this time and in Amman Queen Alia for completion work.

Well it says "It is anticipated that the MAX will be used on other services ahead of this date."

Q1 2018 may be when FlyDubai has officially scheduled the aircraft on a route, but in the meantime it could just bounce around their network subbing in for scheduled 738s.

The aircraft are not ready yet as the seats are being installed after delivery.

Yes, but they have already taken delivery of 2 Max's. I'm not sure it will take 6 months for FlyDubai to get seats in them and all the new aircraft training/induction work done.

Probably an error, this has happened before. WN cannot operate the 737 MAX with 737 Classic in the fleet.

Appalling.
Appalling?

Seriously?

Even the 787 has them -

The windowless spots on the 787 is space that usually has Galley/Lavatory/closet space on the plane. They don't need windows there. If they were there they might have to remove components if there is a seal or inner window issue. That would be an expensive repair.

Not true. Look towards the back of the 787, you can see windows missing on both sides.

They are where air con ducts go. There are similar positions on the 777 as well.

For the 737 and 777 (and 747 and 767) yes; on the 787 the window gap at the back is for the join of two Harrell sections.

I stand corrected, afterseeing that airborne show of AA's Max 8, the engine nacelles
are silver just like the fuselage.

Still can't believe they won't add red paint to the winglet tips

Pretty sure they are but FR24 is incorrectly reporting them as regular PAX flight, today N8705Q flew a DAL-DEN rotation empty. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n8705q

MTX may add them later after the aircraft enters service.

Especially the lower part of the AT Winglet will need extra attention.

I can't imagine they won't. Given the red stripe being added to the regular blended winglets, the MAX winglets certainly deserve them too.

Well ?? Where were they supposed to put the Risers from the air conditioning bay??
This IS a 737 isn't it?? How much do you think they can change and still call it a B737??
They can change a lot of stuff, but they cannot re-engineer the systems to the point of making an entirely NEW airplane and calling it a B737.
You'll have to wait for the B737 replacement and they Still might not change where the Risers are. because I SERIOUSLY doubt they'll re-engineer where the heart of the Air conditioning system is Located... They have the same type of riser system in the later airplanes though they may be a little more refined..

Actually it is only 33 years - the 737-100 and -200 had a series of smaller risers which went between the standard window gap; I believe the single wider riser configuration on the newer aircraft was less maintenance intensive.

Nice video, and thank you. 2 things I noticed though. What's with the gap in the L/E slats?? Is it on the B737NG's as well???

And 2nd, obviously, I'm no expert here but that rotate looks close ( I know and accept it could be normal) but how is the max 10 gonna cope/perform on rotation? Mind you, its getting a revised gear isnt it.

Please note, this isn't bashing the max, just general questions.

Thanks

I think that's a painted marking of some sort rather than a gap; notice how it is still visible with the leading edge slats retracted. Here are a couple of photos, one of a Batik Air MAX 8 showing there is no gap, and the other of a Norwegian one which makes it a bit easier to tell it is a painted marking:

Norwegians 737-800s also appear to have the same marking:

I have no Inde what purpose it serves sorry- at a guess it might be to make icing more visible, though I'm not sure why that would be needed on only a small section, and wouldn't be standard across the type.

Great stuff...by this time next week WN will be the largest operator of 737 MAX - a title I imagine they will never let go of.

Norwegian can enjoy it for a few more days :)

Ryanair have 400ish planes with 100 737Max on order. Southwest have 700ish planes with 200 on order. There is no way Southwest will ever lose the largest MAX operator for a long long time.

ROTFL.

Already a competition. :)

As later posts noted, WN is significantly larger than FR. But FR does rotate out aircraft faster... Hmmm...

Thanks for the photos of the new WestJet 737Max8s. WestJet's livery suits the plane well, which makes sense because they're a single type operator, and I like how they've brought livery elements from the tail to the split scimitar winglets.

WestJet also operates 767s and the Encore sub operates Q400s...

I’m surprised that they just had the aircraft parked for over a month instead of flying around until it was time for mods.

Nice video, and thank you. 2 things I noticed though. What's with the gap in the L/E slats?? Is it on the B737NG's as well???

Thanks

This is just a guess, but given the winter weather in Norway and many of the places these planes will fly, the black strip could be used as an indicator to the pilots to see if ice is forming on their wings. Look like the pilots would be able to see that black mark from the flight deck.
