After several delays (due to weather) PH-BFR "Rio de Janeiro" goes in to her final night at home at Schiphol Airport.
(She was scheduled to go on Monday 27 November)
Tomorrow she will be flown to Enschede Airport Twente; she will depart Schiphol at 12.15 local time and wil arrive at 12:55 local time.

The former KLM aircraft PH-BFR will make its last flight on the 6th of December to Twente Airport. The flight of the Boeing 747-400 will be executed by KLM on behalf of the new owner, APOC Aviation. The aircraft will be disassembled by AELS according to the highest environmental standards. Bad weather might cause the flight to be delayed or rescheduled.
The arrival of the aircraft can be seen from the spotters hill next to the airfield. Please only make use of the designated areas, there is a nature reserve around the airport that needs to be protected. It’s not possible to be on the airport when the aircraft arrives, also not for the media. Visiting the aircraft after arrival and during the disassembly is also not possible.
We ask everybody to send their best picture to info@aels.nl. The best picture we will reward again with a cut out aircraft window.

How sad, I sat on "Rio de Janeiro"´s top deck only a few months ago.
Thanks for the pics.

I happened to pass by Teruel today:

Some interesting runway traffic (besides the 747) at Twente Airport:

Yes, she's the last KLM 747 full-pax (she used to be a combi, years ago she was reconfigured to full-pax) with the new livery:

I don't like KLM's new livery but it's sad this is the last 747 to get a fresh paintjob...

Well, there's a chance a full KLM 747-400 will stay in the Netherlands.

There's construction going on in the old Sony and AirHolland buildings in Amsterdam, it will become the Corendon Village Hotel and with 677 rooms it will become the biggest hotel in the Benelux.
And apparently they're talking with KLM about placing an entire KLM 747-400 on the hotel grounds. It will be used as a museum, but it's not yet decided what kind of museum.
The plan is to place the aircraft there in 2018.

They've already placed a Boeing 737 cockpit in another hotel; the Corendon Vitality Hotel Amsterdam in 2014.
