When do we expect the first 321neo delivery?

The new larger diameter engines make the A320NEO look shorter. More than once, when looking through posted photos in this thread, I wanted to call the A320NEO an A319. Am I the only one? I think I have a great understanding of the engineering changes, but it amuses me on the perspective change.


Does anyone know the monthly production rate of NEOs, ideally broken down by engine type?

I find there is much noise in the data I search (e.g., planes going out parked) that I am uncertain of the actual (with engine) production rates.


Has anyone heard more on the short field modification for the A320NEO? I'm curious if there is any fuel burn penalty (if not, I expect it to become standard):

The Frontier plane seems to have an interesting saga. Qataritis? Seriously, if there is a quality issue (or vandalism), then the customer should reject.

It looks like for practically all A320neo MTOW variants, the engines are either at parity or the CFM is slightly quieter.

It looks like for practically all A320neo MTOW variants, the engines are either at parity or the CFM is slightly quieter.

While technically as quiet or maybe quieter, the frequency of the noise has a big impact on how loud the noise is perceived, how far it travels, and how annoying the sound is considered (a high frequency whine would probably hurt your ears more than a low frequency rumble at the same dB, but low frequency noises are known to be a huge nuisance with many biological effects etc). So the PW could still be perceived as "quieter." There, frankly, is no great way of actually comparing sound levels as dBs have many limitations.

That said I have heard neither aircraft (Youtube as you mention is not a good indication of sound) so I have no opinion on which is worse.

Sorry, but this story seems to be rubbish. If you look at the recordings of FR24, the plane levelled off at some 3,600ft or about 4minutes after takoff and immediatly returned to the airport. I am sure the pilot got a warning in the cockpit BEFORE
- anybody called the police
- the police identified the aircraft
- and then called the pilot.
