While silly, I think it's playing on the dessert "Chocolate Mousse" which is kind of clever. lol

Earlier this month Premium AEROTEC delivered the first A321 fuselage section with the new door configuration.

The extensive changes to the construction primarily facilitate better use of the passenger cabin, enabling the cabin capacity to be expanded from the original 220 passengers to accommodate 240 passengers without increasing the length of the fuselage. These are the most comprehensive changes to the A321 since it was first developed in 1992. Significant differences compared to the existing A321 are a new arrangement of the passenger doors and modernisation of the emergency exit doors in the central section. Furthermore, optional additional fuel tanks can be integrated into the fuselage in order to extend the aircraft’s range. For example, airline companies using the A321neo ACF will be able to fly coast to coast across the US in the future. This model will also offer on-board internet access right from the first aircraft. All of the changes were undertaken using state-of-the-art 3D construction tools.

Flightglobal published some additional technical information:

Premium Aerotec says it has overhauled construction of "almost the entire fuselage" to produce the structure.

It states that tooling such as the riveting stations needed to be extended to deal with longer skin panels for the aircraft's new section 17.

The company has previously stated that the section 17 shell for the A321 is around 9m in length but that the larger version for the A321neo ACF is around 12m. It says it delivered the shipset for the aircraft on time in June.

This is the first time I have heard that the fuel capacity of the standard A321 is being increased. I suspect this was a known when discussing the A321LR plans.

I thought the A321neo already had coast-to-coast range. Even later deliveries of the A321ceo can do it. Are they referring to full-Y config and max payload? Or MIA-SEA, BOS-LAX?[/quote]

Yeah that comment made no sense to me. Not only have ACT's been common on the A321 since they were first launched, but A321's have been flying coast-to-coast for years. US primarily was flying PHL-LAX with non-sharkleted A321ceo's at ;east a decade ago.

I suppose it depends on how many ACT's were required for coast to coast. This implies no ACT's will be required in future.

Does it? It notes "additional fuel tanks can be integrated into the fuselage" which sounds like ACTs.

It is a small comment made by one of Airbus's fuselage suppliers, not Airbus themselves. I wouldn't read too much into it. "Optional additional fuel tanks can be integrated into the fuselage in order to extend the aircraft’s range" == the ACTs we all know about.

They are just saying because of the ACTs customers who select the new layout (only available on the neo) can fly the plane US coast to coast. They are not claiming that the A321 has been unable to do so in the past, or that these optional fuel tanks are something new.

Isn't this just their first one, being "delivered" for the second time? AFAIK this one was delivered XFW-TLS last week (was it via LBG?). Just like some of their previous deliveres, some of WOW's A32x deliveries seems to be via TLS.

But with only three of roughly 20 total neo deliveries in the past two months are with PW engines, there is little doubt that they are still having some issues. P&W had mentioned about a 3-week delivery delay due to a supplier mistake, but it appears the delay has been much longer than that.

In fact, there are about 15 more leap-powered neos delivered than GTF-powered neos, despite there were about 10 GTF neos delivered before the first Leap neo was delivered.

Apparently Airbus waited for the bearing #3 seal fix that was introduced in April for the in service fleet, and found its way to the production line in May. In June, several A320neo aircraft in TLS and XFW got their engines installed (including S7 Siberia, China West Air, Tianjin Airlines, Air Astana, Sichuan Airlines and China Southern). It can only be a matter of time before these aircraft get delivered.

This must be a temporary issue with PW engine supplies as another new a/c for Indigo will be starting FAL build soon. I.e, they are not deffering planes.

And the rate of Neo's being built per week hasn't slowed down either.
