Second 787-10 is back in the air today after spending time on the ground at BFI after its ferry flight from CHS. Not sure what it was doing though, but its interesting that its flying as BOE002 and not BOE036

Are AA getting any more 788s?

Thanks

What is the status of LN11 (KE VIP, N507BJ), hasn't flown for more than 2 years it seems. Is it still undergoing VIP conversion or has it been stalled?

Surely ET can't be taking delivery of many more 787's? Everytime I check this thread, ET seem to have another one!

They will lease a 4 more 787-9's from Aercap. First one to be delivered at the end of this year according to NYC787's tables.

Still at Greenpoint at MWH. Unknown whether work is actively happening, but 2+ years isn't that much longer than normal for government VIP outfitting.

More strange in my opinion are the two 787BBJ of the Saudi Ministry of Finance. Those two have been under VIP conversion for the past 3 and a half years! Does anybody have some info on them?

Small update on the 787-10 test campaign:

"We've essentially completed 30% of our flight-test programme," says Wayne Tygert, Boeing's deputy chief project engineer 787 derivatives development. He says the programme is working towards its target of certification and first deliveries to launch customer Singapore Airlines in the first half of next year.

Boeing also reports "no squaks" with the 787-10 flight test program so looks like it will be a smooth process like the 787-9's, which is not really surprising since it shares like 95% of it's parts with the -9 and the production process is finally fully ironed out.

The article states that the 787-10 with the GE engines is using the GE9X. Shouldn't it be the GENX or have I missed something?

787-9 won't have tremendously long range out of ADD. As with ET's "teens," these aircraft will be regional and Europe workhorses, with the later-build 787-8s and the A350s flying the longer routes. RR is the better choice for 787s flying short stage lengths.

Well the 789 has more range than the 788. Also it's a very capable aircraft and I know ADD is tough on these planes but so wouldnt doubt the capabilities of the 789.

It's a matter of field performance at ADD, which is an extremely high-altitude airport. Every widebody aircraft in existence is weight limited out of ADD to a greater or lesser extent. The 789 is significantly more limited than the 788, which translates into shorter range.

Have a look at the 787 ACAPS. Specifically, look at high thrust ratings on 787-8, ISA +15 (which is close enough to average temperature at ADD), and the 8000' pressure altitude curve. This is not precise information but it gives a useful big-picture view. 787-8 can take off with a gross weight of around 211 t, and 787-9 only improves that to 216 t - considerably less than the empty weight difference between the two aircraft. Then the 787-9 takes a further hit on the fuel in can lift as a result of the ~3 t of extra passengers it will be carrying.

(ADD takeoff weight limitations are also the reason ET was such a good fit for the six "teens" it took, which are limited to a lower MGTOW than later builds. I was honestly surprised it didn't take all of them.)

Well they do have now 24? similar sized A359s on order. They might be playing it safe and seeing how will the 789 performs for their regional needs before going all out and committing to more 789s.

The missile defense and other security items that LY have,
does that get instaled at Everett, or will they add that once

It is unknown when they will be delivered as plans have changed and Ministry is shuffling their assets again .

The dreamliners seem unharmed for now but with recent changes to the their 777 BBJ they might end up white tails as well

This plane rolled out for the first time in late November 2009. 7.75 years from rollout to delivery. And her first revenue flight was an 11 hour haul to Hong Kong http://flightaware.com/live/flight/ETATG. Welcome to the big leagues line 10.

Now all that's left to fly is line 19.

Still wondering what's going on with lines 11 and 17 though. 11 delivered 2 years ago and hasn't been heard from since...

Ln 11 is believed to be being fitted out at Grant County for Korean Govt to replace B744 10001.

Ln 19 status unclear. Thought to owned by Crystal now and awaiting a buyer for it. Ferry out of PAE under BOE number believed to be because Crystal don't have their own crews for the type.

Internal data for both frames doesn't show anything useful unfortunately.
