As referred to in my earlier post, LN 18 actually departed on its first flight today. This is also the only one of the Teens left that is still in the colours of it's "original" operator, ANA. LN 10 and LN 19 are currently painted white:

The ironic thing that comes to mind is the fact that it's almost exactly seven years to the day of it's original roll out, and thus, with a seven year old paint job, it's about due for a repaint anyway, though now into ET's colours!

Any news on the first 787-1000 prototype? Some pictures have been shown here at the end of last year. How does she look now?

It's still in FAL building undergoing assembly and test equipment installation. Should be out before end of February.

She is currently in paint and will probably roll out in the middle of February.

Also I know it is just habit but it is just -10. 1000 doesn't fit on the tail..

From All Things 787's tables, it appears that the 787-10 prototype ZC001 has rolled out on 1 Feb and is currently in the Paint Hangar.

Well as it's currently being painted, perhaps by the end of this week. Remember, photos of B787s at CHS are extremely hard to come by!

There will be a photo released by Boeing when they celebrate the roll out. Also when it flies to Washington to further be tested you will see more photos from Woody then.

Attention any Charleston spotters.

According to my sources ZC001, the first 787-10 should be rolling out of the paint hangar at Charleston on February 16th. If you can get any pics of the aircraft and send them to me I'll put it up on my blog and of course the photographer will receive full credit. Let me know.

Boeing makes it very risky for employees to take pictures, and the way they have the flight line placed you can't really get a good picture. On the other side you have signs posted and the air force base patrolling to keep people from parking or taking pictures of planes on the run way.

If you take a look at the google street view, you will see what I mean about the flight line.

I know the pics taken of the 787-10 just after body-join back on page 31 were shot with a wide-angle lens,
but it occurred to me then that this plane could be the best looking of the series. I may change my mind when
I see proper pics, but I have a feeling this plane will be worth the wait :)

I see China Southern and Hainan Airlines are both taking 787-9's. Not bad considering both airlines do not have any 787's on order.

You're very wrong, China Southern has the 789 on order and Hainan already has 789s in its fleet with more on the way (I believe they ordered 30 more awhile back but it's waiting on the Chinese government)

You should take a look at the "Unidentified Customers" on the 787 order book, which are not unidentified as all are accounted for including the orders for China Southern and Hainan Airlines.

Another thing I noticed,

There are 6 787-9 on firing order for United, but they currently only have 5 left on order. In other words, there's another shake-up of their order on the way.

Yes, I know!

I think it just goes to show that there are probably more orders out there than what the O&D list suggests.

If we consider QF for instance, their purchase rights came with delivery slots. They have a time frame of approximately 2 years to firm the orders before they loose the slots.

Hainan already have a large fleet of 787's (some leased), so it wouldn't surprise me if this airline has considerably more 787's in the pipeline.

Indeed, China in general is the country to watch. China Southerns 787-9 order was only announced last October and now it's already on the firing line. There doesn't have to be years between placing a firm order and receiving the planes anymore. We've recently also seen several orders from smaller Chinese airlines, many also with deliveries starting in 2018. Just imagine if even some of those airlines start to grow and start to order in the numbers Hainan is already doing. The analyst who are predicting a production slowdown after 2020 might be in for a big surprise.

Norwegian is also going wild, they will take 5 of the 20 new slots revealed by NYC777. They say they will operate 40 787s, but will they stop there if they reach that number?

I saw that too and took a double take thinking it would be a 787-10, but it was another 787-9. We should know in a few days when the 10-K comes out.

787-10's should also be on the list when further detailed for 2018. I see SQ's first few on there also.

The lead time for airplane parts is 18 to 24 months. Remember that many Chinese deals have been sealed much earlier, only to be announced when it suits them.

I'm wondering to when the first non SIA 787-10 will appear in the list. There's only the 2nd prototype, the one with the GE engines, that will not go to SIA but's there's no customer listed yet. Does anyone have any idea who will take it?

The 2 extra UA 789s are located in "Unidentified Customers". They were included there during the swap of 10s to 9s to 777W etc...

I knew that United orders are often initially booked as unidentified, but I didn't realize that one would actually be delivered still listed as an Unidentified customer.

Unidentified Customer(s) Unidentified Unidentified 787-9 GE 05-Jan-2017 1

It happens with these Saudi Arabian state orders heading to Saudi. Someone must have forgot to send the memo to Boeing that this order could be revealed as an United order.

The aircraft afaik is currently in the paint hangar. That is an older pic; Boeing doesn't want to spoil their reveal of the completed aircraft.

:checkmark: With President Trump on the SC campus, they're playing their cards right and holding the painted dash 10 in the paint hangar until the festivities begin.
