Maybe a christening ceremony is scheduled directly after delivery? With the mayor of Redange-sur-Attert removing the sticker? I think its the first plane with the name of that little town/larger village so it should be a major event for the few thousand people there.

I know there has been discussion on the lack of information regarding the CA cabins themselves. This URL has a couple of renders that I had not seen before. Perhaps they are preliminary or were simply unreleased before.

Cargolux seems to have changed the name at LX-VCJ from "City of Redange-sur-Attert" into " City of Zhengzhou " in honor of Cargolux's partnership with its Chinese shareholder HNCA and its recently established Chinese hub in Zhengzhou.

GECAS cancels two 747-8F orders.

According the latest Boeing Orders and Delivery update (Sept 30) the two GECAS orders are missing

September 30 2014, 747-8F order backlog.

GECAS substituted a new order for two 777-300ERs passenger jets for its canceled 747-8F order. After standard discounts, the new order is worth only about $60 million less than the canceled order

Looking at the year to date deliveries (I think it was on the Boeing Media site) two of the delivered 747s were identified as leased presumably by Boeing.. I'm thinking we may well see more in that category.. not a bad thing if it clears the field, and produces revenue..

Maybe LN 1501 and 1502 will be leased to Asiana Cargo. It would explain why they haven't yet placed an order (and the first aircraft should enter paint later this month).

My point was that the two shown as leased are delivered so if they are going to lease out 1501/1502 those will be additional leases. could the recently delivered Airbridge have been a lease not a sale?

Every report I can find has a customer listed for each delivery for this year, however we did find information that the financing that Silk Way got was for their frames appeared to be for a 12 year lease, so perhaps Boeing has leased it to them directly? Or perhaps it is some of the "creative financing" that is like a lease to own for Silk Way?

If this is true, perhaps this also explains why GECAS swapped out their 747-8F frames, as now Boeing is competing directly with them for leasing frames.

The info of 747classic suggests LN 1501 will be painted in Asiana Cargo livery. And LN 1502 has the same customer code as LN 1501.

Do you also have info on LN 1505?

GECAS will have non-negotiable terms, and will just be looking at leasing an aircraft.

Boeing, as the owner, will be able to base it's lease rates on cost, or even cost less. It wants cashflow from a non-earning asset so can set the bar lower commercially. Long-term, not the way to make money, but if the aircraft already exists....

And you are right, manufacturers competing against GECAS if anything other than a one-off, will not be well received. May be an option to sell or transfer the lease to GECAS at some future time.

One might wonder why Boeing could not sell those aircraft to some airliners. ABC wants more aircraft and Asiana Cargo wants to operate the 747-8F. But both airlines don't want to buy, it seems.

Boeing has had a used a/c and leasing arm for the past 30 years or more.. the regular leasing companies understand this is not to be in competition but to keep assets from being stored (frequently these planes are trade is and not always Boeing or MD)

It's possible. Per Boeing:

“There’s some additional creativity that we have to apply with trade-ins,” Lindblad says. “We also have to look at some creativity around financing aspects of this. That’s why some of these deals take longer.”

Boeing became far more interested in cradle to grave financial solutions for customers, when Airbus started trading non-Airbus brands, offered guaranteed buybacks, priced in baskets of currencies reflecting customer fund flows, etc.

Boeing Capital Corp is not a GECAS, and only in exceptional circumstances provides direct funding on new aircraft. It's an intermediary between customer and financiers, including risk (latter primarily thru Exim). In exceptional circumstances, to make financing attractive to thrid parties, BCC may provide a portion of direct funding where a customer requires a higher than usual percentage. But it would only fund the excess.

Today RC564/LN1505 is handed over to Volga-Dnepr. The delivery flight is scheduled for next week.

I wonder if this frame will ever go in the order books. Has this happened before? Delivery before a firm order?
