@3.00 they flew to TLS, maybe the initial wings for the test frames went straight to TLS?

The wing is outfitted in Bremen, flaps, ailerons, slats and so on.

I found a couple of other cites that have the first set of wings go directly to Toulouse.
wrong or not ? :-)

Looks like they loaded more than just the basic wing in Broughton?

Initial assembly of the first Beluga XL is completed. Wings, pylons, landing gear, mid- and aft fuselage sections have been joined together. Further integration will happen inside one of the A380 hangars. This will take several months to complete.

It really is amazing how they are creating it. I hope they make a documentary on it as it will be interesting to get an in-depth look at how its created.

It will take 12 months to shape the airframe.

The horizontal tail sits about 1m higher than on the regular tail.

Yes I know but I would argue that a photo is a better proof than a CGI, even if it's from CATIA.

Looking at those pics, the horizontal stabiliser will stay in the same place, but the rudder will be in a different location, further forward and the 1 metre higher.

Their two MSN #s are 1791 and 1817, so I would doubt they would be delivered before the second half of the year.

Airbus have made a really interesting video about the history of the oversize cargo airlifters they have used:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJeJaxfPG7c

The video shows footage of the Super Guppy and construction of the original Beluga which I have never seen before and the first flight. It also shows the construction of the BelugaXL so far and how it has been designed as well as some animated air-to-air shots of what it will look like. The Beluga and BelugaXL really are extraordinary aircraft designed by an exceptional team of people.

On the higher MTOW versions it is enabled. On the lower MTOW versions like especially the regional it is not.

So do we know that the new DL planes will just have 80E1-4 or 4B engines (as they are A330-302s from other sites) and the engine upgrades are anything except increased thrust??? I still dont get how you can increase MTOW by 9 tons and not need more TO thrust.

Because excess thrust was obviously not the problem for most take offs. At sea level the A330 had no thrust problems at all, and would probably be able to take off beyond 242t should other factors not play a role. This excess thrust diminishes rapidly as airport elevation climbs. An A330 out of JNB (5500ft) will unlikely be able to get airborne above 230t (Eng out consideration).

Looks like less than ~~220t. compare to A343: would still lift out ~~255t

Using Airbus FlySmart program:

FAOR Rwy 03L
030/5 (5kt HW)
25deg C
QNH 1020
runway dry
aircon OFF
anti-ice OFF

RTOW for A333 is 230.2t (max 242t) ; A343 is 261.5t (max 275t) ; A346 is 368t (max 368t).

In fact the A346 can still go to 30deg C and still achieve Max structural weight under those conditions.
