They have publicly stated it on multiple occasions, so I think it will happen sooner rather than later - probably an announcement within the next year. It wouldn't surprise me to see such an announcement when
B6 anniversaries its
JFK-
LAX Mint service in June.
BOS-
LAX/
SFO are competitive markets, but if Mint appeals to pockets of slightly wealthier travelers on both ends, the service could be successful. One has to also consider
B6's significant strength with
BOS business and leisure travelers.
Hayes has stated in prior analyst calls that the Core-only configured 321's can easily swap in a Mint configuration with little lead time. It also appears that
B6 has found some additional scheduling efficiencies as
JFK-
LAX picks up an eighth Mint frequency in June (second redeye to
JFK).
In
B6's investor day on 11/19, additional A321 orders (converted from A320 orders) were announced...it wouldn't be surprising if some of these arrived in a Mint configuration.
