Quoting KPDX (Reply 1): There is a market to PDX for Icelandair?? |
Quoting KPDX (Reply 1): There is a market to PDX for Icelandair?? |
Quoting lhpdx (Reply 5): I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for BA to PDX!!!! |
Quoting KPDX (Reply 1): Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. There is a market to PDX for Icelandair?? |
Quoting JU068 (Reply 11): How long would the flight be? It must be close to the limits of the B757, no? |
Quoting OA412 (Reply 7): I think it's really doubtful you'll see BA start PDX now. PDX had a hard time supporting 2 carriers to Europe in the pas, and LH blinked. With the announcements from DE and FI, along with DL's PDX-AMS, that's probably all the Europe service PDX can support at this time. Edited to add: Oops, I didn't realize FI is only 2 weekly seasonal service. I'd say BA is still a possibility under those circumstances. |
Quoting clemsonaj (Reply 17): I'm looking forward to pricing out a trip to Iceland now! |
Quoting BlatantEcho (Reply 20): |
Quoting F9Animal (Reply 35): Great news! As long as they keep SEA! I think PDX will be pretty good. Lots of retired folks in PDX that would jump on this service. |
Quoting JU068 (Reply 11): It must be one long flight on the B757 |
Quoting jporterfi (Reply 14): Quoting JU068 (Reply 11): How long would the flight be? It must be close to the limits of the B757, no? PDX-KEF is 3739 SM compared to EWR-TXL at 3980 SM. UA operates EWR-TXL with a 752, so I'd say PDX-KEF is well within the range of FI's 752s, especially considering it's only 16 miles further than SEA-KEF, which FI has operated for quite some time now. As far as flying time, it's blocked at 7 hours, 35 minutes. |
Quoting stlgph (Reply 40): Awesome news. The Portland flight can also receive some passengers via the Alaska Airlines codeshare agreement, in particular, from Los Angeles. |
Quoting Viscount724 (Reply 42): Unless there's a significant fare saving, I can't see many people in LAX wanting to make 2 stops and 2 connections to get to Europe when LAX has so many much more direct nonstop and 1-stop options. And with only 2 flights a week during the peak season I doubt FI will need to dilute their revenue with much interline traffic. |
Quoting ANA787 (Reply 3): These will do well in PDX due to interline agreements with AS. |
Quoting BobMUC (Reply 4): if Icelandair is able to offer good connections between this flight and their destinations in Europe... why not? |
Quoting JU068 (Reply 11): It must be close to the limits of the B757, no? |
Quoting jporterfi (Reply 14): As far as flying time, it's blocked at 7 hours, 35 minutes. |
Quoting BlatantEcho (Reply 20): Wow, haven't been this surprised by an announcement like this for a long long time! |
Quoting Vasu (Reply 22): Not insane at all... Most of Icelandair's passengers connect in KEF... And the 757 is a sensibly-sized plane. I'm sure they'll do well on the route! |
Quoting BlatantEcho (Reply 28): but we're getting better paying jobs downtown for creative types |
Quoting alexinwa (Reply 30): Also keep in mind many people south of Olympia drive to PDX as it is normally cheaper and less headaches in PDX vs. SEA. PDX draws from a large albeit small population base. |
Quoting Miami (Reply 32): Schedule: FI665 KEF1715 – 1815PDX 75W 24 FI664 PDX1540 – 0615+1KEF 75W 35 |
Quoting F9Animal (Reply 35): Lots of retired folks in PDX that would jump on this service. |
Quoting SANFan (Reply 36): Congrats to PDX on yet another European route! This is very impressive indeed. So this makes, what, 3 new foreign flags added as residents at Portland Intl recently? Way to go! bb |
Quoting stlgph (Reply 43): The Los Angeles area is one of, if not Iceland's largest North American tourism market(s) without nonstop air service. |
