TWA Flight 800

Mon Nov 02, 1998 11:03 am

Certain documents have been brought to the attention of CIA and DEA agents involving the TWA Flight 800 Accident. 1 or 2 weeks before the Crash Surface to Air Missles were stolen from an American Air Force Base to be used in terrorist acts. The traces on the hull of the airplane are similar to these missles also the radar blimp circling the aircraft of the airplane would support this. The goverment knew about this all along and the Boeing Wiring thing is just a cover up. If you would like the title of the book and the website I received the info from e-mail me.

Hi,
I have no opinion on the TWA flight 800 incedent, this is because I just don't have enough knowledge on what really happend. However, one thing you need to remember is the age and condition of the 747-100 fleet that TWA was still using in 1996. Luckily for us innocent passengers, TWA has now retired it's 747-100 fleet.

Bryan asserted that TWA has retired its B 747-100/200 fleet. That's true. In fact, TWA has also retired it Lockheed L1011s and will retire its remaining 24 Boeing 727s by year-end 1999. In addition, it will retire 28 of its 58 DC-9s in 1999. In their place are new, fuel-efficient and less maintenance intensive MD-83s, Boeing 757s and 767s. Next year TWA will procure 41 new planes. Finally, TWA is negotiating for Boeing 717s and 737s, and Airbus A320s. The order is for 80-100 new planes that will be used to retire TWA's remaining DC-9s and to grow the fleet!

Thank you.

Hey

Age doesn't matter!!!!!
It depend of mechanics skills.
USAir Shuttle still operated Boeing 727-254 on dayli bases (6 flight everyday)
Most of their planes retired from Trump Shuttle and they are from 1970!!!!!
29 years in service!!!!!
USAirways mechanics doing just great job!!!

JJC,
Aren't your forgetting the Airbus A330?
They have 10 of them on order and 10 additional options. I believe the first delivery is scheduled for sometime in 1999 (I don't know exactly when).
The Airbus A320 would be good for them because it would make it easier for pilot training, a pilot could easily get qualified to fly the A330 if he or she has experience on the A320. An A330 senior first officer could easily become an A320 captain. The A320 could be flown on medium haul routes, say from Saint Louis to Phoenix, Saint Louis to Boston or New York to Kansas City.
Have a good one.

Bryan, you seem to be glad that TWA has retired its fleet of B747-100's. What makes me say that, it's that you said in your post: "Luckily for us innocent passengers TWA has retired its 747-100 fleet". There was ONE disaster with a TWA 747 since they were put in service back in 1970. This does NOT mean that the 747-100 is unsafe to fly (I know you didn't say that it was unsafe to fly but it seems to me that you would hesitate to get on an old 747-100). I would not hesitate to travel in one regardless of how old it is. There was an article a while ago in the Airways magazine that TWA 747's had logged the most hours (close to 100000 hours each). Did any of the other TWA 747's have any kind of accident or incident during the 28 years or so that they flew? NO.
Do you think TWA has decided to phase out it's 747's because of the disaster they had? I don't think so. They would have done so even if the disaster didn't happen.
Do you think Swissair is now gonna retire their MD-11's?

This is my point.

In response to that, it is a possibility because of the electrical problems. Delta Airlines has already had 2 problems with smoke being reported in cockpits of these planes, and is asking Boeing to rush their orders for 757,767,777, and are consulting about buying 747's to replace their Md-11's and L-1011's
