ANA A380 - will there be route proving flights?

Sat Jan 12, 2019 10:24 am

Good morning,

very soon, the fantastic-looking A380 will be delivered to ANA. Does anybody know if there will be route proving flights inside the country or to regional destinations before it flies to Honolulu?

Any bits of information are most welcome!

I see they are offering a 4 seat couch for one person at £660, think that is a really good price

I've heard they're planning to put it on NH919/920 NRT-PVG in the first place before moving onto HNL flights. This might change though as nothing's in GDS yet.

The first trip to Honolulu is May 24 which I can’t make anyway but it’s a red eye so not that pleasant once the plastic cup of sparkling wine at the gate wears off. So some short range shakedown flights would be nice:
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

This aircraft is so impressive. So hoping Akino33 captures this at Narita this like he did with the rest of his videos.

Unlikely it'll be doing domestic runs as HND is not A380 capable. Unless they start extra domestics out of NRT, then PVG sounds a logical choice. That or ICN maybe.

Hey guys,
The JASDF sent a brand new Japanese Air Force 1 777-300ER to Sydney for a training flight... Would be awesome if ANA did the same with Flying Honu... But is extremely unlikely I understand.
But wherever the three whales / turtles fly, hey will attract MUCH attention so congratulations to ANA! I have a feeling that they will order another couple eventually.
Cheers,

Stunning livery.
NRT-PVG makes sense as ANA presently has 3 daily flights which seems to be it's most frequent short service from NRT.

Extremely unlikely as those in charge of Haneda have realized that the „congestion buster“ property of the A380 is nothing more than a marketing fad. The reality is that the larger required separation reduces the airport‘s throughput capacity so they won’t allow it in Haneda. Ever.
