Delta’s A220...Ferry flight??

Fri Jan 11, 2019 2:53 am

I just noticed Delta’s A220 from HSV-DFW as flight BSC1. Is this a ferry flight for tomorrow, or still a test flight?

Training flight.

N103DU operated this flight:

It is one of many pilot training flights for the type, and in fact this bird did ATL-IAH-CVG-ATL-JAN-HSV-DFW-ATL, 7 legs, just today. They are flying these airplanes like crazy in the training program, which might say something good about their reliability. Revenue service doesn't start until 1/31, so it is not a ferry for positioning. But you are correct that they are doing many training flights to DFW and IAH, which will be among the first stations.

Thanks for the info. I’m hoping to fly on one soon. They seem to fit Delta’s model VERY well. I’m glad I caught one over head. I would’ve posted a pic of the flight path, but I’m a noob and have no clue how.

1/31, if not delayed by the government shutdown (FAA can’t add it to DL’s operating certificate until the government is open). I have tix for two A220 flights on 1/31, and I’m totally hoping it doesn’t get subbed with a tired 717 or something.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. I was ticketed for the “last” DC-9 flight, but the exit date was extended another 2 weeks if I recall (I’m old, so forgive my memory). So I just scrubbed the whole idea and paid the rebooking fee and took a vacation to Florida. :)
