I thought that there was a whole discussion about this a few months ago in which it was concluded that the passenger 767-300ER was done, because the suppliers of the thingys that make it a passenger aircraft had shut down production. That's not to say that if I wanted 100 of them, I couldn't cut some deal to get them, but it would seem to me that the capital investment plus operating expense of such a fleet would be less-favorable than certain other new aircraft, and it would likely behoove the manufacturers to make it financially-worthwhile for me to take 100 of something else. Given that there would need to be a ramp up to my first aircraft, I tend to think that slots could be found faster with current-production passenger aircraft. What would Boeing do, for example, to put me into a nice, new 787 for my 100-aircraft order?

Well, the freighter production line is still open, and its the 763. I guess a rich person could squirrel away a private 767. VIP interior and such.

If it's really out then 787 it is.

Nobody is likely to convert -200s to freighters anymore. The -300ER doesn't use that much more fuel, and the capacity is ridiculously-higher. Not worth the capital cost to do the conversion on the -200.

I flew home to DUB from YYZ on C-FCAE earlier this month, quite interesting to know it’s been around a good while.

I'm not sure if N673BF is really "charter". It's a VIP aircraft owned by Len Blavatnik. The BF stands for Blavatnik Family. The reason it shows up as a Polaris aircraft is that Blavatnik is smart enough to have a professional operator handling crew and maintenance. (Of course, I guess it is possible that Polaris is allowed to charter it out, although I don't see it as listed as a charter on their web site; they show a photo of it, but I think it is just managed. Could be wrong.) Me personally I would rather have the aircraft operated by an airline, like ATI or Atlas, but he's obviously headed in the right direction. A company like Polaris also purports to exercise a good deal of privacy-preserving discretion, although the emphasis on that has caused other wealthy/famous people to inadvertently make decisions that materially affected their safety (read: Joan Rivers operated on in a private surgical center where things happened that would never happen at, say, New York/Presbyterian, because there are training, procedures, safety culture and management to prevent it). (Medicine and Aviation aren't that dissimilar insofar as depending upon strict procedure, protocol, paperwork and oversight to reduce potentially-fatal mistakes.)

Incidentally, AMES does the maintenance on this aircraft, as it does on the Patriots aircraft.

Thanks for that update! Interesting how much potential onesie-twosie cargo feedstock is becoming available outside of the 20 AA ones that ATSG/CAM locked up over the next few years. Good for Connie, Atlas and others if they have more demand.

What Spacepope said. They're gonna be converted, because their hours/cycles aren't that different from 354AA, which is now in TLV. The DL birds are high-ish-hour, low cycle aircraft. And very-well-maintained.

N581HA (28141/853) and N582HA (28139/857) have both been ferried to SAW for storage...likely for Azur Air (Ukraine or Russia yet to be determined). Former N580HA (28140/850) is already with Azur Air Russia as VQ-BEN. All were sold by HA to FTAI prior to exit from HA service and FTAI is the lessor here. The delay for entry into service is likely a reconfiguration into a Y336 configuration (exit door limit with 8 doors is 351).

They had trouble in Germany, but it was just 4 planes there. The planes were transferred to other divisions of Azur Air in Ukraine and Russia. Their fleet is 11 owned, 20 leased (most of the owned planes are 767s) with 4 more leased planes coming in.

Thanks for the explanation. Did a bit of read up as well on the airline, interesting operation indeed for the airline. They have a decent website too, pleasantly surprise from a Russian charter airline.

They looked into it at the request of FedEx in March 2011, but they decided to go with the current 767-300F. There is probably a retired thread about it.

To ROW would normally be for paint at Dean Baldwin. You are correct that it's an Amazon dry-leased plane, and it has relatively-low-cycles, so it's not likely for retirement. Maybe this means that the Amazon-dry-lease 767-200s will now appear in Amazon colors. Or maybe not. It is currently in ABX Air colors.

If I'm not mistaken, one of relatively few left with the big ABX logo on the tail. N744AX is another. Always nice to see those as opposed to the newer plain white tail.

Registered to Atlas (not one of its leasing companies, which may come down the road) as of 2/28/19. Hard to know whether they jumped on getting a new frame to replace 1217A, which is possible (although darn quick), or whether this was a purchase in the ordinary course. TPE is of course the overflow line for BCF conversions, but it's also a major MRO in its own right (EGAT), so while this could be a conversion, it could also be some overhaul/retrofit work of even a pax plane. I think that Atlas's preference is to use IAI/Bedek, because it's less-expensive. However, if you need it turned around quickly, the BCF is the way to go (3-4 months, including paint vs. 6 months or more at IAI given the backlog, without paint, which takes about 2 weeks). So it's at least plausible that this is a freighter conversion, but far from certain.
