No kidding. I've just never seen or noticed it around before. Now I'm connecting through MSP weekly and noticing a lot more things around the airport.

PVD will be interesting. The PVD-MSP routing allows for many people to connect in MSP, I will be interested to see how that route does.

All of the other make sense. Very happy to see IAD and EWR (replacing JFK) as well as ORD. Three markets that a MN based airline needs to be able to serve from MSP!

If connection times a good it should do well. SY operates out of Terminal 2 it’s easy to connect there. But gate space is getting tight. But it sounds like MAC plans on increasing the number of gates. It’s good that EI will be operating out of Terminal 1. That flight would suck up a gate for quite a while.

That's what I am thinking, if you can do PVD-MSP-ANC, those types of connections, then they will do good.

Does anyone have the gate assignments for Terminal 2 and Terminal 1? I am interested to see how long Terminal 2 can operate without needing more gates with SY planning to increase by 6ish planes this year. I know there was a plan for building more gates but that doesn't happen until they finish renovating Terminal 1. Which, I saw the new F Concourse gates yesterday and they look very nice!

Yes, especially with Condor and Icelandair over at Terminal 2, that sucks up 3 gates for many hours!

There is a plan for expanding T2 to maximum of 44 gates, although I don't know if there still going to do it.

The picture is actually an interim step. Eventually the terminal would make a turn and create concourse and gate space where those parking spots are depicted on the diagram. If I recall, that's in the plan for by 2035. But subject to flight demand of course.

I am sure that it will be a record, especially with all the extra Super Bowl and related event traffic.

I am a bit concerned that PVG-MSP is the carrot that DL will use to move HND to another airport. The route just isn't performing all that well and was handed to DL at MSP versus AA. I just dont see us maintaining three Asian destinations.

Over the course of 2019/2020, it's going to be really interesting how the A220's function within the MSP hub. Having ridden on one, I could see the plane taking over a significant amount of flying from MSP on routes served by A319s, 717s and MD80's. Its just a great plane for our hub.

Besides the other items suggested, I really hope we can get COPA. The options to South America aren't super great. B6 to FLL would also help. I flew UA EZE-EWR-MSP Tuesday, which was fine for deep South America, however, COPA would create a great option for the southern Caribbean and Colombia/Ecuador/Costa Rica.

OAG Changes for this week...

FI KEF-MSP JUL 1.5>1.0[1.5] AUG 1.4>1.0[1.6] SEP 1.3>1.0[1.2]

SY MSP-ORD APR 0>0.2[0] MAY 0>0.6[0] JUN 0>1.0[0] JUL 0>1.0[0] AUG 0>0.6[0]

SY EWR-MSP APR 0>0.4[0] MAY 0>1.0[0] JUN 0>1.0[0] JUL 0>1.0[0] AUG 0>0.6[0]

*Icelandair is now flying mostly 757-300's to MSP next summer which is why the reduction doesn't mean too much. This still may be in response to Aer Lingus?

*SY new adds, now the most destinations they have ever served from MSP. SY is going to need more gates at Terminal 2 soon!

Hopefully they’re not stretching their fleet to thin. That only causes problems. With EI using Terminal 1 will help and with only one FI flight will free up some gate space.

I would like them to add more European routes not everything is Amsterdam and Paris, if DL saves AZ it would be excellent if any of the 2 returned the seasonal service MSP-FCO

The DL flight to FCO just didn’t pan out. Maybe daily was too much.

Let's not move too fast. We have MMX, ICN and DUB starting this year and most likely PVG in 2020. I don't see DL bringing back FCO, at least not for now. Wait for these adds to pan out and then add another Europe route.
