I was wondering that too. Seems to have gone undercover since it was spotted unpainted at the end of October. No signs of any flight tests yet.

The video you are referring to was PAL not VS. None of the VS frames have entered the paint hangar as of yet. No flight tests are imminent either. MSN 274/298 are both in storage near the A380 hangars. MSN 71 is undergoing re-work in the A380 hangars from being a test frame. MSN 319 is in the FAL. I can only presume that they are waiting for cabin interiors to be delivered prior to entering Station 20.

I thought i read somewhere that delivery was scheduled for July/August with EIS early September so there is plenty of time between now and then.

No there was definitely a VS A350 video, I remember that too... Also if they're gonna take it 6 months from now why roll it out nearly a year before?

Even there , I can see Virgin Atlantic brand on the wing sharklets . There appears to be no branding on MSN 290 about it.

Still doesn't mean much. A lot of QR frames rolled out like this. It's a bit late to announce a cancellation. I've read somewhere that they're taking five A350-1000s, however has another said, no reputable sources yet.

QR is a big risk for Airbus. So they don't do anything until it is 100% sure that they will take it.

For those of us unfamiliar with the MSN numbers would it be possible for posters to tell us which version of the A350 it is for those airlines that have ordered both types please?

For example MSN 306 for CX? I have no idea whether that’s a 900 or 1000.

Thanks
Thanks and best Regards

The A350 is an incredible looking aircraft in any scheme. Personally I like the 359's looks over the A35K's.

What is the delay with HX MNS 246 251 and 260 Also Qatar has six lagging behind with two production testing making 8 in total they could've taken delivery by now ?
How accurate is this site https://sites.google.com/site/a350xwbpr ... deliveries showing 239 total deliveries vs 242 quoted by Anet member above ?

246/251/260 are all held back due to the financial difficulties at HX (and its mainland parent company). They were actually contractually delivered on 12/31/18 (hence the difference between 239 flyaway deliveries and 242 contractual deliveries). The reality is more likely that the contractually delivered was to Airbus' leasing firm to boost up 2018 figures, which is holding on to them until HX shows up with cash. HX is probably actively looking for sale-and-leaseback deals but i'm sure banks/leasing firms are waiting on the sidelines to see where the blade falls on the fate of HX.

As for QR's 8 frames, they are moving through their paces (2 on FL, 5 in cabin fit and 1 in storage). Deliveries are running at about 2/month so backlog should clear by the end of Q2/19.

The website you quote is a great source amongst others. It is far from perfect/100% accurate (nor are the others).

No stored frames for HU, indeed they took delivery of two frames leased from LATAM last month. Was your source referring to the HX frames mentioned above ? HNA own both HU and HX.

Hainan apparently has two white tails. Where are these stored? Have they had cabin fitted out already?

No stored frames for HU, indeed they took delivery of two frames leased from LATAM last month. Was your source referring to the HX frames mentioned above ? HNA own both HU and HX.

Geoff

Yes I believe those are the frames I’m referring to. The LATAM connection confirms it.

Some airlines have deferred/cancelled their A35K orders (UA for example). Perhaps it was easier on logistics to move up the VS birds in the production ranking instead of producing 5-6 A35K's at the same time.

Currently "stored" A350s are:
246/251/260 - Hong Kong Airlines - contractually delivered on 12/31/18
257 - Qatar Airways - final one in the back log (332, the next one after 257, expected to enter FAL end of this month)
274 - Virgin Atlantic Airways - awaiting cabin to be delivered
283/299 - Hong Kong Airlines - next batch awaiting $$$
290 - Etihad Airways - million $ question

So what is the status of QR MSNs 214, 215, 229, 237, 241, 249 and 266? The first two have had their first flights, however the next four are all in primer without engines installed, and thus haven't flown, so wouldn't they also be classified as being "stored" as there has been no activity on these frames for up to 8 months (in the case of MSN 249).

Gets discussed a lot, the general consensus is that Airbus are finishing off these frames at a rate that suits QR, who have had to slow their expansion plans. No suggestion that they won’t be taken. People used to Boeing’s practices often seem surprised that Airbus frames spend so much time outside during production.
