For the most part over the holiday season, its been 3 MD-80s RON, all leaving the next morning. On Sunday night, there were 3 MD-80s that arrived, but only 2 were scheduled to leave the next morning. The 3rd one is the one in B2. Then on Monday night, there was only 1 MD-80 arrival to RON, then 2 left this morning. So that MD-80 was in B2 for the over 24 hours. So with that crowded schedule around noon time, they had to use B8

Ah ok so there was a chance 5 Deltas could have been on the ground then. This holiday season within the noon one hour there are 4 departures and usually one is taxiing out to the runway while one is arriving.

An odd flight tonight at SRQ as DL1911 (717)came in from ATL and ferries to LGA tomorrow morning as DL8785.

Seems to be the end of the 3 RON planes for the holidays. Just surprised they didn’t fly it back out with pax rather than ferry.

There are still some additional nonstop routes that could be added by WN at RSW such as RSW-AUS, RSW-CVG, RSW-HOU, RSW-LAX, RSW-SDF, RSW-MSY, and RSW-RDU.

Will WN announce any new routes out of RSW this year, and if so, which new routes is WN likely to announce out of RSW this year?

And today starts MLB on Elite. I was wondering if this was going to start, it was on SRQ January schedule then it disappeared, and I do see the flights on February schedule.

Also rumor going around that Spirit will be the new airline announced next month, I’m guessing that is based on the latest Piccolo interview
https://www.aviationpros.com/news/12440 ... rt-in-2019

I see PDG announced their 2018 numbers, I wonder how behind SRQ will be and if this year they will beat PDG back.

How much slower would this make TSA at RSW? Every time I fly out of there the TSA screening is horrendously slow.

Well supposedly it’s supposed to speed it up with up to 18 screening lanes in one area, of course if they will have the staff for it. Now when I fly out of RSW, or drop off friends/family never seen a line at concourse B(Southwest) longer then 5 min. So is it that bad with security? I mean at SRQ we had wait times of up to 30+ min between 9am-12pm. On a side note I will miss the nice open area st RSW.

In Concourse D (American, Jetblue, and Spirit) the TSA is nowhere near 5 minutes, last time the line stretched out to beyond Dunkin Donuts that is before you get into the lines. Luckily that was a day that I was flying in there, so that line didn't bother me.

SRQ was up 39% in December! And 16% over 2017. Article doesn’t have exact numbers and SRQ hasn’t updated its statistics since October.

Also Elite will offer ski packages in Maine from SRQ. $699 Tickets based on double occupancy will include airfare, airport trsnsfer, lodging, ski lift tickets, free oversized ski/ snowboard bag 3 or 4 nights. Also plans are for summer and fall vacation packages.

Could DL make an RSW-LAX flight work once a day in season? What is the PDEW RSW-LAX in season?

Air travel on the RSW-LAX route is not seasonal. It would need to be year-round to be viable. Next time you are in an FLL airport parking garage look at all the Collier County plates. Non-stop service from RSW to anywhere is not much more than 35 years ago when I came to Naples

Surprising, since there was no Jet Blue, Frontier or Spirit or WestJet 35 years ago. But RSW-LAX would be welcome by this Lee County resident. Does anyone know how many pax travel this roiute? I imagine you'd have to include pax that current use SNA or BUR in the potential for this route.

Just over 100 in each direction, however the connecting fares have been going up just over $300.

I was surprised at F9 starting LAS and PHX service, LAX has more demand and higher fares. Perhaps they did not want to waste the LAX gate space or figured there was more wanted to see how much demand is hidden and could be stimulated before trying it out

Frontier has very limited gate space at LAX which reduces potential new route additions.

WN could add RSW-LAX nonstop service, and WN now does have enough room at LAX to add RSW-LAX with the reopening of additional gates in Terminal 1 at LAX. LAX is also currently the largest WN station on the West Coast, even though that will change once WN starts nonstop service to Hawaii out of OAK.

What about DL making RSW-LAX work with the new A220? And it make even being able to generate connecting traffic at LAX to the many other west coast stations served by DL out of LAX... SAN, SMF, SFO, PDX, SEA etc. Might be enough demand for an even larger seating capacity like a 738/9.

Now that TVC has the same frequency to SRQ as DTW, and GRR has more seats to SRQ than DTW, how much longer do we have to be a science experiment by DL? I strongly believe daily flights from SRQ to DTW can be supported.

Yes they waited till beginning of February to post the last 2 months of 2018. I think those are the best numbers since 2010?

I think flights overall are doing well, but in middle of January into February there were plenty of cancelled flights and heavy delays. I know some of JetBlue and United flights that left next day were half full as most passengers got put on other flights, probably a good number from Tampa.

I know last Wednesday Frontier to Atlanta left with only 65 passengers and that’s on a 180 seat airplane. And at $59 round trip I’m not sure how long they can support that, obviously that’s just one flight. I do wonder how they are doing overall. That flight leaves in between 3 Delta to Atlanta flights so that’s a lot of seats there. Did Delta lower their flights out of SRQ this season compared to last years? I feel like they don’t have as many flights.

Elite with the Melbourne Orlando flight, does anyone know how well that’s doing? I know it’s an add on to Portland Maine and back, but just curious to see how many passengers board in Srq to Melbourne.
They had plenty of cancellations too so with only 2 weekly they would fly the flights next day, but that’s not really a confidence builder for such a short hop.

With the new update for October and November
It’s great to see that American is stretching seasonal DFW to SRQ starting in October, but where is the ORD flight!!! Will it be back in December then? As with some SRQ flights they start out as seasonal and then get stretched longer until they are year round. I was hoping both of those would become year round. I keep complaining that ORD flights are so expensive so I can’t image American would just blow off that market.

I feel the only reason SRQ got the numbers out was because I complained on the SRQ spotters facebook page and someone in management saw it and got the ball rolling.

SRQ was up 41% in January

AA's ORD flight....chill...they're just starting to get fall/Thanksgiving schedules going.

OAG, biggest takeaway I saw was G4 is adding more frequency to a bunch of SRQ flights.....I believe PGD and PIE also.

Oh nice, that’s good and yeah I was surprised that they had the flights scheduled seasonallythru April 1 when there is spring break and Easter. A good number of the once weekly are on Saturday’s.

United to Denver
American to Dallas
Delta to Detrit
Delta to New York JFK
Elite to Traverse City

So SRQ posted April’s flight schedule and looks like American is upguaging the second CLT flight to a 320! First flight of the day is still 319. And a third daily is going to be more often a 319. In February AA brought in the 320 twice. So is AA getting serious about SRQ?? Or is this just an April thing. I am curious about the first morning flight to CLT, usually on the crj7 there were only about 30 or so passengers. How many more are on the 319?

Also I don’t see United’s Denver flight on Saturday’s, is it still happening?

Some odd DL Charter related activity at SRQ last night.

DL8883 (757 N668DN) arrived from MCO around 7pm, and then took off to ATL at 9:30.

DL8890 ( 757 N6703D) arrived from MEM arrived at 11:15pm, and it appears to be sitting at SRQ as of this afternoon with a scheduled departure to Syracuse within the next hour.

Any thoughts on what this could be? My first thought was spring training wrapping up, but flying to SYR doesnt match up with any MLB teams.

It was all spring training....there was a UA flight to IAH also, got my hopes up.

The guess on the SRQ spotter FB page was
"8890 is probably the Mets. They play the Orioles tomorrow and then are headed to Syracuse for a final spring training warmup with their minor league club in Syracuse"

Seems plausible

Eurowings supposedly will be bringing an A340 to RSW on Saturday

If I am looking at that drawing/picture of the new TSA area at RSW, wouldn't that put it right where that restaurant, Quiznos and the hot dog place are I believe? What about the airline ticket counters that are right in front of that? There is also the escalator leading downstairs to baggage claim so are they gonna move that also for this new area? I agree there should be 1 checkpoint but that should have been thought of when they did the new terminal, not now.

Driving by SRQ I noticed a DL plane at B2, which is rarely used, so i had to dig into it a bit more. Turns out DL had a bit of a mess today. DL1271 (MD90)landed on time, but went tech and couldnt make the return to ATL. They then ferried a MD88 down as DL 9932 to cover the flight, which turned into a 5 and a half hour delay, but everyone gets out. Looks like the MD90 is set to ferry back later tonight as DL9932.

Kudos to DL for not stranding everyone and all things considered having a pretty speedy recovery.

That’s so exciting!!! Finally some new route news for SRQ!! Just need them to move westward. I have been awaiting SRQs first quarter numbers, hopefully they’ll come out soon.

UA is launching twice daily service from IAD to RSW and SRQ.
SRQ will be 2x on E175s, and RSW will be 2x on a 73G and A320.

For March SRQ had 197,889 passengers fly thru. That is up 33% over 2018 March, and year to date SRQ is up 36.5%!!! Has SRQ ever seen over 200k in one month???

For March PDG has 221,326 passengers fly thru, that’s up 14.71% over 2018 March.

I was kind of hoping SRQ would catch up PDG, anyone think there still is a chance?
Last year SRQ had 1.35m passengers while PDG had 1.58m. How much more growth is Allegiant planning in PDG?

Today was a beautiful spotting day at SRQ too

I didn’t see March stats for TPA or RSW yet
