The most post-88 US legacy of them all...
Stuck at age 15 thanks to the certification date of the A320-200 and my parents' decision to postpone having a kid by 3 years. At least there's Dignitas...

End of a very good era, the start of a terrible one.

The 757s still have some time left, especially the LAA 757s.

Also 2019 will see the delivery of the last 787-9 belonging to the first batch of Dreamliners that were ordered initially, which means that this year the total fleet of 787s will add up to 42 frames, 20 of the -8 variants and 22 of the -9 variants. The deliveries of the first order will be completed. Deliveries of the second order won't start before next year.

Also 2019 will mark three anniversaries at American as far as I know:
1. The 85th anniversary of American Airlines, the company was founded in 1934.
2. 2019 will mark the 60th anniversary of the first jet aircraft in service with American. The first jet, a 707, was delivered in 1959 and put in service on the LAX-JFK transcon route.
3. 2019 will mark also 30 years of operating the 757. The first 757 was delivered in the Summer of 1989.

Happy New Year to all and best wishes!

Is there a date set for the final MD-82 flight?

it will be nothing special, just like any other single aircraft being withdrawn from service, when the fleet goes that will be a much bigger celebration

They should have left one of the MD-83s in TWA livery.

Seems like they pushed back the retirement date for N381AN (767-300ER). Per Flightradar 24, I see N381AN having 3 flights tomorrow on MIA-ORD, ORD-MIA, and MIA-SJU. As for N389AA, another 763ER retiring with 381, has a flight today to TUL from MIA at 5:30 PM and doesn't show anything afterwards.

The 757s still have some time left, especially the LAA 757s.

The LUS 757s are going away later this year and the PHX-Hawaii routes will be run on the 321 Neos that will begin operation later this month.

Probably a C check before heading to it’s new owner for conversion to freighter service.

Bedek tends to do heavy checks at the same time as the conversions for ATSG/CAM, so probably going to TUL to remove interior parts before heading to TLV.

AA B787-8, N810AN flew to PAE today. Does that signal the start of the PE installation in the B787-8 fleet? Anybody know?

45 total. Some more are currently in retrofit and haven’t been reclassified yet.

Anyone know what's going on with AA B737-MAX8s N350RV and N341RW? The were delivered on 12/26 and 12/30, but still not in service. Usually it's a week or slightly less.

Delays being certified caused by the government shutdown. I just saw a picture of them prepped for storage in Tulsa awaiting the government to re-open.

Is that just a reduction of the current 28 business class seats or will the 788 J-cabin also be standardized with that of the 789 in terms of the configuration?

From what I understand it should be pretty similar to the 737 MAX interiors.

Going by N800AN, which previously got PE installation:
788 - 20 J, 28 W, 186 Y (MCE-42) ...... 789 - 30 J, 21 W, 234 Y (MCE-36)

It is. F no longer has a bulkhead wall but that piece of cheap plastic that looks like it costs $5, if that. Bad for F but good for those in the first row of Y because they now have underseat storage.

788 has more W than 789 or 77E, and as much W as 77W?

Any updates on the next 767-300 to be retired? It was posted "definitively" by someone that 381 and 389 were going to retire together on 1/6/19. 389 did. 381 didn't, and is still in active service. Any ideas on what adjustment was made in the schedule?

FAA isn’t approving new deliveries and certain repairs. I know there are two 737Ms parked in TUL awaiting FAA approval onto the certificate and not sure about the latest 787 delivery.

Yup that's Dougie at his best. Which is why US will be flying the 788s to places like CUN. Because they can no longer use them for LHR and the like.

That's not the point. AA is using 788 to China and Eastern Europe. Hardly places that need 28J, especially when they're uncomfortable Zodiac Concept D anyway.

Indeed 381 was originally scheduled to retire last week but its retirement has been put off. Its going to JFK tonight for MNTC work.
I'm unsure why the retirement was put off; a possibility could be needing to cover some of the schedule due to the 2 newest 737 Maxes still awaiting acceptance checks (delayed indefinitely due to the shutdown), as the schedule was built with the assumption that those airplanes would be in service.

Maybe they are. I'd rather see 20J with decent seats than 28J with Zodiac junk. PE gives better value for $$$ than the Zodiac Concept D.

I don't think AA is touching the Concept D shakers. Pretty sure the W cabin is just replacing the current J mini-cabin in the 788s.

What makes even less sense to me is that it's not like Zodiac completely sucks at life - the Cirrus is an excellent J seat IMO. Why couldn't AA have just gone with what they installed on the 77W?

Its not retiring yet; going to TUL for heavy MNTC. My guess is it'll be there for a week or so before returning to service.
As of now, 381's retirement has been put off until early April.

RE: 737 "Oasis" mods, as of today 1/14 the count is up to 50 now (47 actually in service, 3 still in work but showing as re-classified), with 2 in conversion that haven't been re-classified yet. Roughly 3 per week are being inducted for conversion.
