That looks amazing. Part of me also wants to see one in the standard livery, that would look good too.

Looks fantastic. Hope the livery brings a smile to the thousands who will board it as they go on holiday.

Quite stunning they chose tortoises for the livery of a machine that can do more than 500 kts per hour !

Looks great! Hopefully there'll be a top up order and we'll get to see the whale jet in the standard ANA livery, a fleet of 3 is way too small for such a major carrier.

Fab ! I'm sure with the publicity and promotional work ANA are doing in Japan they'll fill it no problem to HNL.

Wouldn't be surprised if ANA operates regular domestic operations with these big birds. After all Japanese market can sustain such flights.

Except HND is not A380 compatible. Otherwise I'm sure HND - OKA would be a route - if OKA can take the 380 that is.
I don't think gates at HND are wide enough for the 380's wingspan nor are any of them fitted with triple jetties.

I want to go there and get some pictures. No idea if they will be testing in Toulouse or in Germany.

What do you think? Where is the best chance I can see it and get pictures?
No idea when they will have the delivery ceremony. I suppose it won't be long.

Inaugural flight is 24 May to Honolulu. I want to be on the flights... both ways!
Party in the Sky with the Honu!

She is the first one in a series of 3 in different colours.

Each one will have a different Hawaiian name.

I hope Airbus can have one to display at the Paris Air Show. it would be a gigantic success.

They really need more sales. I am sure if ANA does well with them, then JAL will also buy 3.

So I assume a paint job is included in the purchase price yes? Would ANA have had to pay extra because this is a special livery?

It all started with a contest.

The aircraft's final design was selected from among 2,197 submissions from around the world, which were received by ANA during an open design contest conducted from Oct. 7-Nov. 30, 2016. An in-house selection committee awarded the grand prize to Chihiro Masuoka of Tokyo, for his concept "Sea Turtle Family," featuring the Hawaiian green sea turtle—a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Hawaii. Mr. Masuoka was awarded a pair of roundtrip business-class tickets for ANA's Tokyo-Honolulu route. In addition to the design contest's grand prize winner, four runners up, including the creators of the design "Stephen+Cayden" from the state of Hawaii, will receive commemorative gifts from ANA.

Perhaps so. Like the other posters, I'm impressed with this scheme. Further, I thinks it the best look yet for an A380. This was a brilliant idea to cover-up the aircraft's otherwise rather ungainly appearance and it does an especially good job of disguising the giant forehead look (think Uncle Fester from The Addams Family).

No, maximum seat number limited to 873 by evacuation testing.

Good to see a completely different, non-Euro White, livery emerge from the paint shop!

This page has all the information with a seating map on both levels.

There is a First Class, a Business Class, a Premium Economy (upper deck)
Economy and Couchii cabins are on the lower deck.

The main deck will have 383 Economy Class seats, which includes 60 couch seats.

All classes will have access to bar counters. Lastly, behind the main deck, ANA has created a multi-purpose room where new mothers will be able to tend to their babies and passengers will be able to change before arriving at their destination.

As of right now it's announced that they will be used on flights to HNL. There may be some domestic or regional familiarity flights for training before the first HNL flights in May but I'm not aware of anything specific.

Zoologically, the honu is a sea turtle (family Chelonioidea), not a tortoise. The honu has a unique status in the culture and iconology of Hawaii.
A tortoise (family Testudinidae) is a subtype of turtle. Tortoises a re slow-moving terrestrial reptiles. Think Galapogos.

Brilliant marketing by NH. This is the most famous "aircraft" [livery] in Japan... and it has yet to fly commercially.
Also drove HA into the arms of JL.

Do they really want to use this bird ONLY on the route from HND to HNL, no other routes??? All the three 380???
