I wish them much success, and hope the flights go year round. AF started Dallas back in 2001, but pulled the flights shortly after the 9/11 attacks.

Does anyone with a better knowledge of the Air France schedule know if a 10:10am departure on CDG-DFW leaves enough morning connection opportunities on routes like ABC-CDG-DFW? Does AF have a big arrival bank in the morning?

CDG is a massive hub. There are plenty of flights that arrive before the DFW flight departs.

Thu Sep 13, 2018 1:49 pm

Wow I’m so happy about that news. Planes4you started a thread about this yesterday.
The 8:15 arrival at CDG is perfect to make onward connections to Africa for me. I could not do that with AA arrival at 9:40 in T2A

See FlightStats.com for arrival data of AF flights. There are plenty of arrivals from Europe and Africa for which that will be a legal and logical connection.

There's a ton of stuff that arrives CDG early in the morning; a bunch of DL's flights (which are fed by the AF hub) depart between 10 and 10:30 AM.

Sort of embarrassing that AF's English-language press release (which should be written by someone with a good command of English) used "March 31th." And not a single mention of Fort Worth in the press release; bet they love that on the other side of the Metroplex.

Anyone seen, or want to hazard a guess, what their business class offering will cost each way? Will be exciting to have another option out of DFW to Europe, and the timing of this would be perfect for me actually.

Great for DFW. It is nice to finally see some other airlines challenge the interior USA fortresss hubs on TATL flights. Competition is much needed to challenge the monopolistic high prices at these types of airports.

Located in northern Texas, Dallas is the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States. Known as the "Big D", it is home to one of the country's largest industrial centers. Its oil center is the most important but the city is also at the forefront in the telecommunications and banking sectors. In terms of tourism and discovery, Dallas is not just a TV series. It is also the real home of cowboys with ranches and rodeos all over the city. The Big D also attracts visitors with its cultural attractions, including many museums - including the famous 6th Floor Museum in honor of John Fitzgerald Kennedy - galleries and districts dedicated to art as well as parks scattered between the skyscrapers.

This was definitely written by someone who doesn't live in Dallas!

Seeing AF praise the 330 Business class cabin is quite hilarious, considering how outdated they are to the competition and even other AF planes

"In the Business cabin, Air France offers service excellence in the sky" :rotfl:

Congrats DFW though!

They will feature the new Business class that Air France will start to install on all their A330 at the end of the year.

Well that is good...though I believe this product will still be behind AAs J class and AFs own 777s J class.

In cheap seats, the AF 332 experience will be better than anything that AA's offers.

Is it normal to have flight numbers for a turnaround flight be nonconsecutive? Figured if the flight number to DFW was 150 then the return to CDG would either be 149 or 151.

So happy to hear! The timing is perfect for BLR bound pax to DFW, though I'm a little skeptical of AF A330s.. flew last year on AF191 (A330) and it was terrible. I hope the planned A330 will be better than what I expect. Looking forward to AF at DFW!
Congrats DFW & AF :-)

Connecting service onto Delta's flight from DFW-AUS which syncs up with their focus city there ;)

Kidding aside - as a DFW resident who is moving to London this month I'm thrilled to have more TATL competition to/from DFW

Delta had a hub at DFW until 2004. Sometimes I see comments about the number of Delta frequent flyers living in the Metroplex. CDG is a big connecting hub. Why shouldn't SkyTeam have some of the DFW-EU traffic, in summer at first?

An interesting past thread on A.net answering the question: does DL regret closing down its DFW hub? https://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=592515

I'm happy for DFW to get new service, but that is an annoyingly early time for CDG-DFW. The AA flight already departs early enough! I wish there were a few more later departures from Europe to the USA.

AF A332s have an antiquated cabin. Although I am not a fan of AA, I will prefer an AA 772 over an AF A332

Does this mean the new reverse herringbone J seats are getting installed on the AF A330's? They mention 36 J seats but the current J setup is 40 seats with the terrible non lie flat J seats that you have to hop over your seatmate if you are on the isle. To me this means the A330 fleet will get essentially the same seats as the J seats on 787 and 777-300ER with the BEST product.

I don't think that AA will respond in any meaningful way, especially not with something like LAX-CDG. They have had their LAX hub for years and have not started LAX-CDG. I doubt this new AF service will be the tipping point.

There’s a reason why there wasn’t a 2nd flight for DFW-CDG because AA had dominated that route out of dfw.It wouldn’t make sense for them to add a 3rd flight

Do we expect more US expansion? I know there was another thread on here a few months (maybe a year?) about possible US expansion into DFW, as well as PHX, LAS, SFO, DEN, and SAN.

There are still a lot of DL flyers from when DFW was a DL hub. Some of them will probably migrate to this flight for European trips, especially if the planes have new cabins. The AF food is also generally pretty good, which cannot be said of AA or BA.

This flight may take some traffic from the IAH-CDG flight, though. For example, I'm a skyteam loyalist and from MSY. I've started taking UA to IAH and then getting on AF or KLM instead of going through JFK and a longer layover or ATL and a higher price.

All my earlier posts in this thread have been censored, and I have receive a "board warning", whatever that is

I cannot get my head around the fact that a.net will not accept the question about a flight from a hub to a spoke, or from a spoke to a hub, and the operational differences these two flight have, The differences are massive

To pretend that an Air France flight Dallas - CDG starts in Dallas is ridiculous - everyone knows it is a CDG - Dallas return flight. Why my posts are deleted (and those that quoted mine) is beyond me, and why I receive a "board warning" either

Maybe this is my last post here on a.net (or maybe for a while). Bye!

Wow. I'm stunned. I'm surprised they didn't say tumbleweeds roll down the streets in clouds of dust.

AF A332s have an antiquated cabin. Although I am not a fan of AA, I will prefer an AA 772 over an AF A332

Arent the A332s getting upgraded cabins? They should have the new J product and updated Economy and PE products. It should be reasonably competitive with AA's flight.

Will Skyteam customers be able to connect from this flight to Delta flights going from DFW to SLC/LAX?

They could, but wouldnt most people just fly nonstop from CDG to SLC and LAX on the nonstop sky team flights that operate in those markets?

Do we expect more US expansion? I know there was another thread on here a few months (maybe a year?) about possible US expansion into DFW, as well as PHX, LAS, SFO, DEN, and SAN.

1st of all they already fly to SFO.2nd of all they won’t go anywhere near PHX.

Who does AF code share with?

Nm found my answer. AF code shares with Delta in US but that's not going to help many on getting to DFW..

My thought exactly. Lots of DL status members still in DFW. Nice flight to use those Skypesos on in the summer for a family trip to Paris.

As far as MSY is concerned, I'm wondering how much business BA (and to a minor extent DE) has siphoned off from DLs ATL/JFK/DTW transatlantic stranglehold they had from MSY - and how much yield. I think a clear answer to that would be DL running a nonstop to either CDG or AMS from MSY. If BA were to go daily from MSY, we could see a response from DL to get some of that revenue back. But DL is so profitable, they may just cocede those seats to BA to print even more money elsewhere....

I am shocked that AF doesn't fly this route and hasn't since 9/11; a long time ago. I never checked for it just assuming they had been flying all along.

This was a no-brainer, someone in marketing at AF needs to go.

They did via KLM seasonally couple years ago. Fell through when ME3 joined the party.

Marketing does not make decisions regarding destination an airline serves. Try network planning.
