FedEx operates several as the MD-10. I believe one MD-10 is operated as a flying hospital, and the USAF still operates 59 as tankers. The Netherlands has a few as tankers as well.

Some of the questions you ask can be answered very easily by Google. Searching something as simple as "Biman last DC-10 flight" gives you the answer right away.

FedEx still operates 37 MD-10s and 57 MD-11s. That's certainly several :D

I might be wrong, but I think here are no VIP-MD11's anymore and definetily no more VIP DC-10 (and I cannot even remember that there was a VIP DC-10 at all (just military)).

I think this is correct. Only freighters and tankers left I believe. FedEx has a fair few though so they’ll be around a while yet (especially the MD11).

Not necessarily a VIP but still a private one used to haul goods and employees between factories' locations.

Hint: it was Feb 20 2014.

In 2007, Northwest Airlines became the last major carrier to retire the DC-10 from passenger service in the United States. McDonnell Douglas's famous (and at times infamous) jetliner logged its maiden voyage for passengers on August 5, 1971, on an American Airlines round trip between Los Angeles and Chicago.Jun 15, 2017

Man, too bad I missed that memo. Must've gone unnoticed due to the 747 retirements.

Does the FedEx fleet consist of any original DC-10s with the 3 man cockpit or have they all been converted to the new MD-10?

But not for long anymore. As soon as the A330 MRTTs arrive the KDC-10s are history. They will be NATO planes, but based in Eindhoven they'll essentially take over the role of the KDC-10s currently based there.

Several Netherlands Air Force pilots are currently outsourced to KLM for the purpose of training on the A330.

On the outside they're identical, the only difference is on the inside. The DC-10 has a full-analog cockpit, the MD-10 has a digital cockpit that is more similar to the MD-11 than it is to the DC-10.

A quick glance into the database reveals that aircraft stored in Afghanistan since at least 2012.

And no, Orbis no longer operates the DC-10. Their original DC-10 was replaced with a MD-10 donated by FedEx a few years ago.

All remaining examples in service are freighters, EXCEPT the Orbis MD-10-30 (line #96). The original Orbis MD-10-10 is a museum piece now at DMA (it was a testbed for McDonnell Douglas for its first 7 years). The Orbis MD-10-30 - de-converted from freighter with port-side passenger windows restored - flies where it's needed, usually with FedEx pilots.

Almost all remaining DC-10s are with air forces or FedEx (as an MD-10 with a glass cockpit) - a handful are still leased. For the MD-11, almost all remaining examples are with 4 airlines: FedEx, UPS, Western Global, and Lufthansa Cargo. The only ones still on lease are some FedEx examples and minor operators with fewer than 4 examples such as Centurion; the other airlines fully own their MD-11s. The most recent transaction was a sale by Lufthansa of three MD-11s to Western Global.

Born as a DC-10-30CF, converted to DC-10-30(F) then MD-10-30(F) before it's current status which is more or less a MD-10-30 with a SCD.

PLEASE don't let the obnoxious sanctimonious people on here get to you. Create any thread you want, after doing some research in good faith. Many people including me found the thread perfectly-acceptable and interesting. If a thread is boring, I just move on. Which is what grown ups do.

I don't know what Wikipedia site you looked at but at the English version it's not in the current fleet, only in the historic fleet. It says they operated it from 1990 to 1998, which is correct. However in other languages Wikipedia may not always be up-to-date.

Wikipedia can never be fully trusted as a reliable source, but if you have to rely on it the English version is mostly the best, but can still contain errors.

As has been said before, there are no airlines still operating these aircraft in passenger configuration anymore. The only ones left are cargo and military.
