WN will respond forcefully.

They're ripe markets for a ULCC though, especially MSY and MCO.

To 2x weekly seasonal routes on an airline that probably most of Nashville hasn't heard of? I doubt they need to do anything to respond. Maybe lower prices a bit, that is about all.

At least passengers will be able to book a ticket on WN when SY strands them due to "end-of-season."

Probably just to rotate some aircraft back to MSP and they must feel some market share is there

I think it could also be viewed as people in MN coming south to TN. I make that trip a couple times a year (Usually in winter), albeit that doesn't mean much.

I was unaware SY was in MIA. What other routes are there?

MSP-MIA runs there at least seasonally.

I'm surprised by BNA-MSY. Nevermind the WN competitive concern. I would expect much of the Sun Country crowd to think of that as a driving route.

I guess I forgot they were there. FLL is the hive for most of these things. I guess they did BNA-MIA rather than FLL to keep distance from WN.

Yeah, Sun Country has flown to Miami for 30+ years uninterrupted. With DC-10s back in the day. Don't think they've ever flown to FLL.

SY seems to be growing a fair bit! First adds at PDX now BNA? Nice. Hopefully a flight linking the two someday soon.
I always saw SY as being cut from the same cloth as Sunwing to the north—primarily operating from cold northern cities to sun destinations.

It's at least 8 hours and at those prices, it's probably cheaper to fly when you consider days lost to driving, unless you are traveling with a family. WN has had pretty high fares on the route lately, so I'm happy for the competition, even if I don't plan to fly SY. The nice thing is you can always mix and match with one way fares.

Well they just did add Madison, WI and to a lesser extent (cold wise) STL.

Didn't SY use to do MIA HAV charters daily too? Did that dry up after AA and DL started regular service?

Actually SY does charters between FLL and Gulfport/Biloxi for the Harrah Gulf Coast hotel (in Biloxi). There was one that arrived and departed FLL today.

They are only operating between BNA-MSP twice a week. Shouldn't have issues with filling seats.

By only doing non-daily, your risk is lower. After all the CEO came from G4. the non-daily king

Yup, out of TPA too. There are still regularly scheduled charters between MIA/TPA and various points in Cuba, but Swift does almost all of the flying o/b/o Havana Air. Haven't seen SY do this business in ages.

I love it. MSP to BNA is my #2 route.i usually go 2-3 times a year but if the flights are cheap enough I will go 5-6 times, even if I have to fly SY.
