That video reminds me of the 747 glory days. The livery is just so classy. MCO must be commended for the no nonsense video. Hope they do the same for the departures.

Thanks for sharing.

2x 744 + 1x 333 from LGW
2x 744 from MAN
1x 744 from BFS

This happens every Monday, at least during Summer peak, IIRC. Hard to see them all at the gate at the same time, though, as the BFS flight arrives (if on time) at 1740 while one of the LGW 744 departs (again, if on time) at that time.

The BFS on Monday is normally the same aircraft as has performed MCO-GLA then repo'd to BFS. I'm not sure how many other Virgin 744's you'd get on the ground at MCO whilst the GLA service runs from Thursday to Monday ? Great to see all these though, just a few years left before they start replacing with A350-1000.

There are some brilliant examples of very large outstations around the world:

- DL at AMS = 20x arrrivals + 20x departures every day:

Image

- AA at LHR = 20x arrivals + 20x departures every day:

Image

- UA at FRA = 8x arrivals + 8x departures every day

Image

- QF at SIN = 7x arrivals + 7x departures every day

Image

Feel free to add some more.........examples.

We had a thread like this last week?

UA and AC also have large presences at LHR.

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing - excellent video.

Will be sad to see the 747 disappear. What would likely replace it for such a market?

Love the 747, was just on one yesterday BA LHR-MIA. By far my favorite airplane out there. A shame that they are becoming more rare on the passenger side. Will be flying around for decades more in cargo though.

Sigh.

I can remember when there would be a line-up of NorthWest DC-10s at AMS. :crying:

My sentiments exactly. That lineup looked great, as did the A330s in the final NW scheme.

You can add :
- DL at CDG = 14x arrivals + 14 departures every day.
- AA is also pretty busy at CDG with I think 7 arrivals + 7 departures every day.
- FDX at CDG = about 40x arrivals + 40 departures daily.

When EK still operated AKL as a tag from the Australian east cost ports they had 4 A380s on the ground together in AKL every afternoon.

Well another opportunity for you to post that excellent picture and the information that you have provided but didn't you think it was a case of ''De Javu'' when posting it as this is an identical thread to one that was started last week regarding the exact same albeit with a video, other than that it's identical and should have been merged with the previous thread.

I posted that photo and information: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1400637&start=100#p20615119

Then this one came around on July 6th, 2018: viewtopic.php?t=1398321&view=unread#unread

I just arrived in Disney World for a quick end-of-summer vacation and the place is practically overrun with Brits and other Europeans. It's weird but cool to hear so many non-American accents.

A waitress told me she thought Disney was running some promotion in the UK where visitors could eat for free with the purchase of a vacation package. That's a great deal given these prices!

I live in Orlando and can tell you that UK tourists are VERY localized to Disney. I kid you not I have encountered not a single Brit outside the premises of Disney within the Orlando area (this is not an exaggeration). The last time I visited Disney was probably 5+ years ago and I remember many different nationalities but don't distinctly remember Brits. That said, I imagine they must be somewhere within the premises as these 747's don't fill themselves.

I still to this day can't believe the sheer amount of capacity the UK can throw at MCO between BA, VS, DY, TC, TUI, this has got to be one of the few examples of routes in the world that literally have no limit. Crazy.

I agree. VS 747 G_VFAB "lady Penelope" and i have a live hate relationship. She used ti be a regular on the ramp during diversions to TPA plus she alsways seemed to take the Buccaneers to LGW. I wish theyd serve TPA instead on Norwegian.

Me three. But at the same time, MCO basically has the most 747's of any airport in the US behind maybe JFK so that in itself is probably a blessing we shouldn't take for granted. Chances of it flying to TPA are slim considering that even if they did, it probably wouldn't be with the 747 as MCO is still the only airport that gets it with any sort of regularity in the entire US.

Sending this message from the departure lounge at MCO, this last week since the Florida kids went back to school there have been times when we seem to have exclusively been surrounded by fellow Brits. Haven't been to Disney, but Universal and Volcano Bay in particular have had lots of foreign visitors, with a seemingly high proportion of Scots. As mentioned above however the vast majority don't stray further than the theme parks, outlet shopping malls and I drive. We've eaten in downtown Kissimmee, been across to the St Johns river, and visited the Cape Canaveral seashore and not heard a single British accent.

A 8 week lease in the summer might well be a great idea, VS loads drop off dramatically when the schools go back and planes soon get stood down.

The downside of this is the terrible wait times at CBP with so many large aircraft arriving so close together. Yes the auto booths do help a little but not a fun experience after a 9hr flight with kids.

MCO has the worst customs wait in the country for a reason.

It depends. I've flown MAN-MCO during the middle of September in recent years and the flights have been very well loaded to the point where they were almost full.

Not everyone who flies into MCO from the UK stays in the Orlando area let alone stick to Disney. For 2 of my last 3 visits to the Orlando area, I didn't go on Disney property at all (Universal is more to my liking, but that's personal preference). I also like going over to the Gulf Coast, but with the only flight option (LGW-TPA) being unsuitable due to not living in the South East or connecting at somewhere like ATL, it's easier to just go into MCO and drive from there. It's about 2 hours from MCO to the beaches of Clearwater/St Pete's, which granted isn't ideal after a long flight from the UK, but I can think of worse hardships and a nice beer at the end of the drive is as good of an incentive as anything. ;)

When Virgin switch to 350's there will be a huge increase in efficiency no doubt.But.A large drop in capacity too.If (as one assumes) they are flying them full in summer then there is a clear shortfall unless they intend to increase frequency.

They do however often consolidate flights due to lower demand, LGW - MCO has over the years dropped from 3 x 744 to 1 x 744 out of season, often they start off selling 2 flights then cancel one if demand is low.

My personal preference is to avoid the "Mouse", just returned from Orlando and never set foot on Disney property, did however visit areas out of Orlando where you see very few British

Most grown adults love their kids... who in turn love Disney.

And, as others have mentioned, Orlando doesn't necessarily mean Disney. I went last November and didn't go to Disney. I much prefer Universal, Busch Gardens and the non park stuff.

Yeah as a Brit who's done the Mickey Mouse run a few times, we've always made a point to stay a week somewhere along the Gulf Coast prior to our return home.

Same. We do a week around Orlando and a week on the Gulf coast. I have a friend at work who is currently staying in St Petes too.

I do know a couple of people who only go for Disney though. They don't even hire a car, just take the shuttle to and from the parks every day!

I’ve never understood the appeal of Orlando. For Brits particularly - flying 4,000 plus miles to go to theme parks in the 35 degree heat. We have theme parks in the U.K. Agreed, they’re not as good. But there is zero culture in Orlando. My holidays as a child were in France...camping, sailing, cycling, playing games on the beach. Surrounded by nice people rather than fat chavs with tatoos who would rather stuff their face with a burger and chips whilst queuing for a rollercoaster. No thanks!

And snobbery like that is why Britain is in the state its in and us British people are generally despised by a lot of people. We're either thought of as the 'rough, cheap chavs' that you obviously think a lot are, or we are know as the judgemental idiots that always have to comment on it.

The fact is, those 'chavs' have probably saved up for years to be able to afford that one dream holiday to give their kids an experience they won't forget.

As a regular flyer on the route I can also tell you, VS actually commonly has people who live in Orlando permanently and are visiting family back home in the UK. People who have worked hard and spent a lot of money on a very expensive property in the area.

Doesn't everyone have to save up for years to afford Virgin Holidays ? Apart of course from the ones who took the more affordable option with Thomas Cook via Sanford...

That's purely cultural though, there's no mandatory tipping culture in the UK (and presumably Canada too ?) where it's presumed service industry staff are paid sufficiently to provide service. You can of course provide a tip or 'keep the change' if you feel you've had a great service experience but it's a world apart from US tipping culture where everyone in the service industries seems to rely on the concept to earn a living wage. You'll also find the vast majority of Brits holidaying to Orlando and Disney who (as mentioned) have worked their butts off to get there in the first place and aren't particularly wealthy in general, do not enjoy giving their cash away for a service they perceive as already having payed for. Anyway...back on topic before the 'off topic' police feel my collar again.

I know, I know....I said it in jest. But your comment on how the 'chavs' save up for years for their one hol....that is so true, and I just don't understand that mentality. Surely it would be better to go on one holiday per year, closer to home, cheaper, in Europe, where there is more culture, more to learn, new language, nicer food, buildings, history etc.

You must be fun at parties

I'm British and love Orlando, been numerous times. I can assure you I'm no chav, I love culture as much as the next snob, but sometimes it's nice to spend a couple of weeks just having fun. Go on a few rollercoasters, evening drinks round the pool with family etc. Also, i have zero tattoos and not the biggest burger fan.

Although, as a side note, the major downside is the huge queues to go through MCO's security with the rudest TSA agents on the way home.

And just for your benefit:

"Fun"

noun.
enjoyment, amusement, or light-hearted pleasure.
"the children were having fun in the play area"
