One ugly livery on one ugly plane.

Just terrible.

I fully expected when I opened this thread that there would be a whole lot of people stating how much they disliked the new Lufthansa branding. I was not disappointed.

So, to balance things out, I'd like to reaffirm that I like the new branding and that the A340-600 looks great. An equally pointless post of an opinion few care about. Happy flying! :)

Yes, but somehow I fail to identify this livery as the revised one... maybe it’s too early in the morning... or maybe the sun wasn’t shining when the video was taken... ;-)

I'm 99% sure it's the revised one, judging by the size of the logo. That is, for me, the giveaway... especially when you compare the distance between the ring and the edges of the tail fin with the old version. They (thankfully) didn't lighten the blue too much, so it's kinds hard to tell from the color under an overcast sky.

While i do understand some of the criticism, i do think the new design is clean, modern and stylish. I would also think they focused more on the NB/WB twins during the design phase, since these types will be the future of the fleet. It looks amazing on the A350 and probably even more so on the 777X. That being said, i wouldn't mind some kind of additional nuances on the front of the fuselage or the engines...

But i'm also excited for the A380! It's massive tail in dark blue with the huge crane will certainly be quite dominant on the world's aprons! Does anyone know when we can expect the first one?

I agree entirely - and bring back some yellow too.

What worries me even more about this is that if LH are happy to go down the blandest of bland route, what will we see next time BA does a refresh of their livery. Farewell blue belly and engine cowlings? Noooooo.

How do people not get fired for branding like this?

Looks cheap and LCCish, with no representation of the proud German tradition of running good business, in a timely and efficient manner.

Font size still looks terribly small, which I thought they would've corrected.

The Lufty crew that flew out the A346, left an A330 in it's place for re-painting. I take it the re-painting of the fleet is now moving forward at pace after a period of not being sure if they got the right shade of blue and general doubts about the livery from the AV community ?

I actually don't mind it. It could be bland to some and trendy/minimalist to others. I just hope they've factored in cleaning because having a nice and pristine white jet means it will show up dirt and whilst the average Joe may not notice/care for the livery, they likely will notice a dirty aircraft and possibly attribute it to being old etc, not looked after.

No, they are not. In the latest preliminary report you can find a list of types in the fleet of the whole LH-group. While they do have 66 aircraft on financial lease and another 50 on operational lease in the whole group (and as I already mentioned none of them in the mainline, but only EW, SN etc.), none of the A340 at LH, LX or EW are leased.

To be incredibly generous, I can say that I "understand" LH's new livery, they tried something sober, crisp and modern that would withstand current trends avoiding silly visual gimmicks. Do I hate it? No. Do I like it? No. The A346 looks rather unfinished with all that white space but it's such a beautiful bird anyway

Maybe not all-blue engines, but if they painted the engines like the tail (blue triangle sitting on the end of the nacelles) it would’ve been a nice relief.

Agree.

Finnair looks so much better due to the large font . The LH livery on a long bird like a a346 looks like it is awaiting a paint job. Almost needs text that says "This space intentionally left blank"

This new colour really brings out the length of the A340-600. Such a beautiful bird the A340-600 in any colour scheme. Enjoy these birds while they still fly.

77 posts on a livery that had been discussed ad nauseum? Get a grip people. It's not changing do we have to rehash these threads everytime an airline paints a model?

Just don’t get what’s wrong with the color white on a fuselage. Or what’s wrong with “eurowhite”. As everyone can see the new LH livery is sleak, fresh and modern. Of course yellow door linings would have been great, but hey it looks straight, factual premium. Thank you Lufthansa!

I must say it grows on me... watched the planes pass by while I waited a couple of hours in FRA recently and the yellow "Spiegelei" seems a little dated indeed. While an occasional special livery is nice to see, not every aircraft in the sky must wear colorful pokemons and what not. I don't know what LH could have done better apart from maybe extending the blue a bit further, as NZ does with black. And clean shiny white is a nice color!

Since when was white a colour? The general consensus here seems to be either Eurowhite or whatever it's called, or a gimmicky tacky etc etc etc "livery". Nowt else any more..? What happened to good design? Classy it ain't. And I've just been told off on the comments section of the photo just uploaded of the same Airline's A320 in Star Alliance 'livery'. Which I would call 'Stickers' or decals to our American friends. They look like you could just peel them off. Crappage...

That A320 is a plane they already sold and now bought back. That's the reason for the very basic Star Alliance livery. They needed it to be available asap.

Dreadfully uninspired. LH is better than this.

Simplicity can be interpreted as smart, professional, sleek, but the line between those and boring is extremely fine. LH truly missed the mark on this revision IMHO.

Lufthansa: First A330-300 in New Livery

Sat Sep 01, 2018 3:36 pm

Following on from the A340-600, the first Lufthansa Airbus A330-300 (D-AIKO) has emerged from the paint shop at Manchester Airport (UK). The video below also includes a sequence showing the arrival of D-AIKD, which will be the next aircraft to be painted. This leaves the A340-300 and A380 as the only two widebody types yet to have at least one example wearing the new scheme.

The rebranding is continuing apace. Personally I think that the new scheme on the A330 is a huge improvement over the old - it fits the shape of the aircraft extremely well.

My pick is that this livery will not stand the test of time and we will see further update in due course. it's just "plane" awful. It won't be under the current instigators but I predict we will see a correction over time. For an airline claiming to be 5-star and one of the major world carriers this has not delivered the required elements. It's not rocket science. In the meantime we have to endure it.
Plane mad!

Re: Revised Lufthansa livery fleet thread

I saw a LH A333 at DFW yesterday ( 9/2) in new livery and did a double take.

Thought a 359 had snuck into DFW until I circled around and got a close up look.

New livery looks better in person IMHO. When will the first 380 get the new livery?
