New livery looks better in person IMHO. When will the first 380 get the new livery?

That would have been D-AIKO on her first revenue flight in the new color scheme as LH438 from Frankfurt, returning as LH439. She is currently en-route to Luanda as LH560 - nearly fourteen hours late per Flight Aware.

As for the A380, D-AIMB, 'München' is scheduled to be the first painted in the new scheme in October. Seemingly, this will take place in Guangzhou. Further useful information is available at:

It looks like they a leased white tail and put some cheap and simple decals on it... except it's their whole fleet.

After over a decade of lurking and looking at photos since my dad first showed me a.net, the time has finally come to make an account. Although I'm certain Herr Spohr could care less about my opinion, I nevertheless want to voice it on this one and perhaps have a discussion with all of you (or a heated bickering-fest as I see here so often). LH had an elegant, globally recognizable livery, and instead of optimizing it for modern times (which would be understandable, although imho not necessary), they opted for a woefully cheap, uninspiring, wet-lease decal looking slop job (did I mention bickering?). I say with the utmost conviction that I now find the FR paint to be substantially prettier. Well played Carsten & Co....

A320neo

A320

CRJ900

MD-11

I guess the first 777F in the new colors will be factory new D-ALFF. Delivery will be in February next year.

The first A380 to receive the new livery has arrived at CAN as LH9861 from MUC. The aircraft is D-AIMD

Fantastic scheme, loved it from day one. Saw the CRJ, 320 and 350 in Munich during the summer. Can’t wait to see the 380!

Any updates please? Seems to be a slow process.

The A380, D-AIMD has not been noted as flown since end of October - are there other checks being done?

Seriously though, Airbus aircraft look better in Euro white liveries than Boeing.

Nope. I've seen the new livery in person on a 747 and it looks as terrible as it does in pictures--like a fly-by-night cargo carrier. Looks even worse on the A380. So stupid getting rid of the yellow.

Agreed. LH gold is iconic. If you're going to get rid of that, at least produce an inspired, creative design. Minimalism can be powerful, but this new livery is full-stop boring, plain, lazy.

How could someone, as the lead project member at a design firm, look at this abomination of a livery that their team came up with and not feel anything but pure embarrassment? Some half-asleep airline execs being talked into adopting it by some marketing smooth talker is one thing, but how can anyone who has training in art and design not see this as anything but supremely lazy and uninspired?

I tracked down the website of the designer, Martin et Karczinski, and wasn't surprised. Go to their main website and you're greeted by a color palette of grey and black, and an image of what looks like an unfinished concrete building partially furnished with a painfully unoriginal modern office. Their facebook page conforms- these Martin and Karczinski dudes are clearly too cool for color. For a design company, it isn't even laughable- it's simply pathetic. LH obviously scraped the bottom of the barrel to find some bargain basement design firm, and they got exactly what they paid for.

a) no one booking a ticket cares
b) it safes money, enables us to see cheaper tickets (the people in a care about that) and/or make more profits (shareholders care).

And as you can see in this and by now half a dozen or so other threads, it is not universally disliked, some people do like it and over time more will after getting used to it.

best regards
Thomas

Imho this really boils down to the fact that the LH group is in a position to interchange planes between carriers in the group more easily if the need arises...see recent thread/discussion on A32__ and Spohr's comments. That said I agree not terrible, could've had a nice twist with blue on the engines.

Don't you people think that a lot of people put a lot of time and resources to come to this solution. One reason for the white fuselage is that Lufthansa Group wants to have the possibility to shift around aircraft between LH/LX/OS with minimal adjustments as possible.
I also don't like the fact that they got rid of the yellow on the aircrafts but hey, I have seen worse looking aircraft.

That looks really bland and cheap. :(

But, I'll wait for the OS version of the A380, because it, along with the 747-8i will obviously be swapped over to that airline...

I think the opposite. I think the 748 and A346 are too long leaving too much white surface area while the livery suits the A380

So? How many middle managers were involved in the process, or how easy it is to maintain or swap the aircraft around has nothing to do with aesthetics, it's a bland livery to the point of being ugly.

I have recently heard that the main idea behind all LH-Group airlines' eurowhite liveries is swaping the aircrafts among one another easily & efficiently. Look at Austrian & Swiss. SN Brussels and Eurowings will follow that white engine covers & white front fuselage line as at the end of the day economics counts. ;)

It should be the new blue on every repainted aircraft after the 744 first got the tweaked livery. The A350s and A320neo have the old blue since their tails were painted before LH noticed that their "bluest blue ever" looks a bit too dark in bad weather. The next A350 and A320neo will be the first new deliveries with the updated blue.
