Yes, they're going to fill in the whole Lower Seletar Reservoir, build 2 more runways, extend them to support A380 [/sarcasm]
Seriously, what's with your obsession with turning every single little airport into a 6 runways airport? As if your EXT idea is not ridiculous enough.GalaxyFlyer wrote:Hard to imagine runway expansion, not that much room and the current runway is not that long. Mostly business aircraft there.
IIRC they did thought about extending the runway to support 737 operation (and moved the LCCs to Seletar). Eventually they decided against that. As Seletar airport is also operated by Changi Airport, there's not really any "competition" anyway.
Runway has been extended to accommodate 757s.

I actually did go back and check. The runway is longer than the one at SNA, so 737/320 shouldn't be a major problem (although perhaps there would be some weight restriction?).
I can't think of any 757 operators left in the area, though. CZ, CA through China Southwest, and FM [Shanghai Airlines] all used to have some, but they were all retired (or convert to freighters) around 2015. Plus none of those are going to fly into Seletar either way.

A few points:
- For safety, smaller planes like props need a greater separation distance from other aircraft when taking off or landing, so moving props to XSP reduces pressure on SIN, from an operational POV.
- The slow approach speed of props means that in some instances, two landing slots are required. SIN has been subject to slot constraints, so it wants to free up slots - hence the new XSP strategy.
- FY cannot increase services to SIN, as CAG stopped issuing new slots at SIN to prop operators. This gave FY a monopoly on SIN - SZB. FY will increase flights to Singapore, when it moves to XSP.

There are many Singapore - Indonesia markets for which Lion's bigger jets might be too big - due to CAG slot allocation restrictions, they couldn't explore these with props at SIN, but could do so at XSP.zakuivcustom wrote:MASWings = Umm...they are already operating into Seletar. I know - my point is that we may see some limited prop services to Borneo, which would be on MASWings. Additional prop services had not been possible at SIN, due to CAG slot allocation restrictions.

Actually, there is land available to be developed, at east camp - this large parcel of land was previously unavailable because the developer of XSP, JTC Corporation, wanted to focus first on developing the west side. Authorities have now announced an expansion of east camp.
