17 y/o A 320 on a TATL flight today

Tue Jul 10, 2018 7:37 am

Just saw flight TS 97 YUL-FRA nonstop operated by an 17 y/o A 320 - 212 (!!) C-GCKR. Is that only a defective Information of FR24 or do they really fly TATL with a "normal" A 320 yet?

Either it's empty or not an A320 - does not have the legs for YUL-FRA.

That aircraft was leased from Condor, to Air Transat in March 2018. Probably going back to Condor to help with the summer season in Europe. It's a ferry flight for sure

Looking at the history, it appears that TSC97 is not a normal, pax flight but that the flight number is used for positioning / delivery flights. In which case, it appears that the A320 is flying as TSC97 today.

TS only recently got their A320's, so wonder what it's going to FRA for.

It's possible that the aircraft is being returned to Condor. It is my understanding that the main purpose of the A320's was for pilot training until the A321's arrived. Now that the first 2 A321's (C-GEZD and C-GEZJ) are fully operational, the A320's are no longer required.

FL400 for the whole flight... not usual for an A320 brimful of passenger, I suppose it was a ferry.

Guess you are right with "Ferry-flight" because after landing in FRA the bird moved south on the apron where to the maintenance area of Condor.

Especially as I thought the A320-200's certified ceiling was 39,800ft :scratchchin:

Oh, I saw the altitude graph on FR24 and was 40k, but it might be not accurate!

It is actually 39,100. The 100’ is in there due to ALT CRZ allowing the aircraft to make minor altitude deviations to maintain constant engine thrust for fuel efficiency.

Bear in mind it is Holiday season for Condor now - Holidays in Germany have already started or are to start soon, depending on the state. So they might need all planes they have.
