Looking it up, I discovered the callsign pertains to a "Western Global Airlines" based in Estero, FL. Doing a quick Wiki search (I know I know), it seems there has been speculation that they may have been involved with CIA operations over the last few years. Anyone have any information on this company? Shell company for covert ops?

If it was flying for the CIA then you wouldn’t be able to track it via traditional means. They’re a bottom feeding ACMI carrier out of RSW that flies for FedEx, Allied Air in Belgium and Africa, the DoD, and other customers. They fly clapped out MD-11’s and I think they have two 747-400 BCF’s as well. Their pay is substandard and they are a place where people go to get heavy time and move on.

That, is a dang good story.

From what I've read on APC people who work there seem pretty happy there. Starting pay for an FO is over 80k a year.

As an ACMI airline the Global part of their titles makes complete sense. As for the Western well it was a way to distinguish it from its former Finnish counterpart Nordic Global Airlines that was part owned by Finnair Cargo and the same Neff as for WGA.

They only flew for FDX over peak a few years ago.
