Tue Jun 12, 2018 12:14 pm

Hope to see the NEO make it to BOS eventually!

Hopefully GIG/GRU/MIA spotters get some good shots.

Anyone have the arrival times for MIA? I was able to find the arrival at LIS on 06/24, at 1915Z. But no information on the inbound flight yet. I hope the weather contributes!

I Imagine the A339s will take over most of the A333 routes, which are pretty spread out across the network, given that the A333's leave the fleet this winter.

Pardon for the layman's question, what is this certification of the A330NEO for a specific airport? The A330NEO is basically an A330CEO, the same footprint, the same placing of the undercarriage, the same weights(?).

It is not that basic. The A330neo has more wingspan because of new sharklets. It has other aerodynamic enhancements. It has new engines giving I assume a different thrust profile and the new engines make the empty frame heavier. I assume the A330neo will behave differently in landings and take offs. Perhaps it is possible to tweak the FBW, so that it seems to behave similar as the ceo, but for that they will need to collect data.

Otherwise route proving is always a part of certification. It makes sense to do this route proving on flights that the first few frames will be used for.

It's part of the route proving tour for the A330neo:

Airbus A330neo en route to function and reliability tests

Flying over European Airbus sites and visiting 15 cities worldwide to test aircraft readiness for airline operations

The stop in New Delhi caught my eye. It's almost like Airbus has an order finalized from a certain Indian airline (or two!) ;)

TP CEO hinted last night that TP is looking to start 8 new routes in 2019 to TLV, DUB, SFO, ORD and IAD- the other 3 he didn’t mention. http://www.presstur.com/empresas---nego ... neves-ceo/

I was lucky enough to see it taxiing to the active runway while we were just landing. Not lucky though keeping my camera in the bag... beautiful looking plane, great wingspan and bad eyes. All the best with the route proofing!

According to the Airbus press release (http://www.airbus.com/newsroom/press-re ... tests.html), they have Chicago listed as a stop as well, but I could not find any dates. Anyone have any idea when she's supposed to land in Chicago? I've never seen a TAP aircraft in Chicago; will be quite the treat!

Thanks!

She took off from GRU a few minutes ago. It doesn't say where she is going. Possibly MIA...

Yes and no! I think Airbus is flying the first customer A330-900 in TAP colors on the tour. The plane will be delivered to TAP later this summer.

Absolutely right. Although, according to TAP's CEO, it's going to be November/December until she is delivered to TAP.

Airbus have two prototypes of the A339 flying on test - the TAP aircraft, F-WWKM, is the first production aircraft and has a fully fitted passenger cabin. That is one of the reasons why it is used for the route proving flights - the prototypes are just bare aircraft with test instrumentation and don't have a full cabin.

Apart from that, these route proving flights carry lots of invited passengers like aviation journalists, etc.

If there was a sale, you would have seen 3 to 5 Indian cities. I suspect there was a sales call.
