2 more A350 for Air Caraïbes and French Bee

Thu Jun 07, 2018 11:37 pm

Group Dubreuil, parent company of Air Caraibes and French Bee announced today the lease of 2 Airbus A350-900, one for French Bee and one for Air Caraibes. Both aircrafts will be delivered in 2019.
French Bee sole A330 (F-HPUJ) will be transfered to Air Caraïbe next year, leaving the fleet with 3 A350-900 in 2019, and one A350-1000 scheduled for 2020.
Air Caraïbes will retire 2 A330-300 (F-OONE and F-GOTO), with the first A350-1000 delivery scheduled in 2019.

I recall they had slot issues into ORY waaaay back when they started receiving A350s. With this expansion I guess they're covered, I just wonder how they went from being tight with 5 planes on field to being ok with having around a dozen.

Its a net increase of 1 aircraft for 2019. the group is getting 2x 359s + 1x 35J and returning 2x 330s.

Sounds like they're very satisfied with their A350s.

Why would they get rid of the A330s and not just expand or increase service?!?

Those A330s are quite young, ~9 yrs old. Strange they chose not to expand with them.

Is this the first follow on order for the 350?

Excellent. The Air Caraibes A350 is IMO the best looking plane/livery combo going right now, just pipping the Gulf Air B789.

That's one way to look at it.

Another would be: "sell/return them, while their value is still high"

That's the joy of leasing: easier to move on when the new shiny model shows up.

Yet another potential A330neo opportunity is gone though.

Yes, the airline is moving toward A350 anyhow, but they also have the A330 legacy and should have at least considered the lower acquisition cost it has.

I doubt the people who perhaps couldn`t afford to fly until they were offered cheap fares could give a fig
for seat configuration. Better to have the choice than not. Both these airlines should be commended for
"going large" with the A350, quite a step up in outgoings compared to A330.

Yes Airbus must be crying on their way to the bank after another A350 sale.

I can just see the headline- another blow to Airbus as airline chooses a350 over a330neo.... :rotfl:

I imagine a unified fleet could also present some fairly substantial cost benefits for the airline as well, with it being such a small LH operation.

There is not much expansion possible at ORY. The number of slots per year is restrained to 250 000.

So if you want to expand, you gotta move to CDG.

The A333 for both Caraïbes and Bee have 354/378 seats, while the Caraïbes A359 have 389 seats and the Bee A359 has 411 seats. It's not a huge increase in seats and the A359s capabilities and economics are probably a lot better overall...

Can't wait to see the 439-seat A350-1000 enter their fleets - they will be impressive.

Does that mean we will be seeing a A350 at TNCM soon?

True, yet if A330neo doesn't capture this kind of 'emerging' customer, it's not clear why it exists, other than to undermine A350 pricing at big accounts such as DL.

It actually is 3 - 3 - 3 in Y as oppposed to standard 2 - 4 - 2 on A330s. But yes, it is tight :)

Great news, but I did not know French Bee is getting also one 35k. That sounds interesting, I love the appearance of that bird. :-)
