New SY Paint Scheme Coming?

On the local MSP Spotting Facebook page I read there is an employee vote on a new paint scheme. I don't know if that is supposed to be public knowledge (yet) and the person works for SY, so for now I don't know if I should show the paint scheme options. I will say that all four options look good and keep the tail logo the same or mostly the same. None are the boring, typical all Euro white with the airline title on the fuselage and a logo on the tail. Lots of blue and orange like the current paint scheme, but with a small amount of white thrown in.

Some 68 schemes were floated around which has been narrowed down to 10, then 5, then 4, and eventually, 1.

All of them are pretty good though. C has too much going on with mostly orange fuselage + orange background to the logo.

C or D. Don't see a point to the curvy white section in A and B. Glad to see them emphasizing orange over blue since the current livery looks too much like Southwest.

I'm finding it really interesting that LCCs now properly paint their planes while more and more full service/legacy carriers move to plain white with color on the tail and nothing else. As for the posted schemes, I like C. I'm all for curves in the design, but A and B have them in the total wrong place (IMO) and it just doesn't look cohesive.

I've pointed out the same thing in all the endless bland Eurowhite schemes, LH being the latest casualty. It boggles my mind that people think white = 'clean' and uniformity looks attractive.

All of these blow LH out of the water. I slightly favour C over D. For A&B, the white is meh, but it's nowhere near Eurowhite.

My thoughts exactly on your choices. I'll give a slight edge to D over C.

Don't see the point in the white at all.

D seems the most cohesive.
C is a bit "busy," but still better than the white options.

I'm not convinced by the font style they've chosen. It looks as if it reads "sun oountry"
It could be Helvetica Neue Condensed, but the photographs aren't clear enough to make it out properly.
If I had to give it to one, I'd probably give it to C, because the Sun Country logo actually includes the orange roundel, and said roundel is distinguishable in Version C. Version D lacks brand discipline in that respect.

C or D, but I'd rather C. Idk why people are complaining. This is a vibrant livery that shows the airline's business model (aka taking people to the sunny parts of the country) and it for sure is one of the good rebrands of late. I will miss the old scheme, but this is a good transition. I'm sure people will like it more with time (like it happened with Air Canada, AA and Qantas)

I pick C. To me its distinguishable; seeing an orange plane you can probably guess its Sun Country. Not that it really matters to the traveling public, but still much better than going for plain Euro white.

D. I like the blue tail over C since fuselage is orange and yet the S sunburst is still prominent as the logo.

As a former SY employee, I love the original colors that came on the 737 when they bought them in 2000 When they changed it back like 2 years ago to Sun Country Airlines on the side..was an insult to the founders. Hell you may as well go back to the "Sun" that was on the tail of N275AF back in 1983.

When I saw their first plane painted with the revised block lettering, I just cringed. I like how the remainder of the unchanged planes in their fleet look. It's the best livery they've ever had and doesn't look at all dated to me.

I'm really amused by this whole refresh that SY is going through as I honestly don't seem them still being around two years from today. It feels almost as though CEO Jude Bricker knows they've ticked off so much of the loyal MSP base of customers that they needed something flashy to distract from the one-two punch of the winter storm strandings and the announcement of the full switch over to being an ULCC. I think it's an incredible waste of money, no matter who owns the airline.

I've got a bit over 100,000 UFly points that I'll need to burn off before the end of October for one last flight in first class.

D. The white in A & B is distracting IMO. On D, the blue flows better up the tail. I would give C a 2nd place.

I still like C over D because of the current tail logo. D is good too, but I miss that element. The white in A/B doesn't fit well IMO.

Still like their current better, but these are still very good and worthy of a new direction for the airline.

I realize I'm just a bitter, petty artist, but I hate the weird swoopy Qantas-wannabe tail trend that's been a feature of almost all current livery redos. Plus the billboard text, and how they take the old logos and magnify them by 100+. It comes off as kinda tacky and unpolished. Who comes up with these half-assed things anyway?

It's nice that SY isn't going all drab at least, though.

I prefer Choice A with Choice C a close 2nd. All 4 seem to be solid concepts.

Reminds me a bit of how G4 changed their scheme (even they too had an employee vote IIRC).

SY employees have until tomorrow night, Tuesday to vote. SY is expecting two more 737 soon, So I would think they will be the first in the new colors.

When looking at the way the brand evolved over the decades, I still think Team D has the best livery. It's bold yet simpler than the current one, and closer to what the name means.
