Routes that all US Big 3 fly?

Sat Jun 02, 2018 10:53 pm

Obviously the Big 3 all fly transcons from LAX to JFK with the exception of UA to Newark well maybe soonish JFK too. But for instance there are other routes that come to mind that DL, UA, and AA fly.

LAX-BOS AA,DL,UA,B6,AS
ORD-ATL AA,DL,UA,NK
LAX-LAS AA,DL,UA,NK,AS,WN
LAX-DEN AA,DL,UA,NK,F9,WN
ORD-SEA AA,DL,UA,NK
LAX-HNL AA,DL,UA,SY,HA,AS
ORD-LGA AA,DL,UA,NK
LAX-DEN AA,DL,UA,NK,F9,WN
LAX-SFO AA,DL,UA,NK,AS,WN
LAX-MCO AA,DL,UA,B6
ORD-MSP AA,DL,UA
LAX-SAN AA,DL,UA
LAX-MCO AA,DL,UA,B6
LAX-PHX AA,DL,UA,WN
ORD-CVG AA,DL,UA
ORD-SLC AA,DL,UA
CLE-LGA AA,DL,UA,

Not all big 3
DEN-SEA DL,UA,NK,F9,AS,WN
MCO-ATL DL,NK,F9,B6,WN
SFO-JFK AA,DL,AS,B6
DEN-LGA DL,UA,F9,WN

Am I missing any Big 3 routes?

You should check every route Delta has out of ORD. ORD-DTW is missing from your list

AA, DL, UA, and NK all serve LAX nonstop from DFW, and in addition, WN and AS serve LAX nonstop from DAL.

Corrections:
ORD-SEA AA,DL,UA,NK,AS (AS also serves ORD with nonstop service to SEA, PDX, ANC, LAX, and SFO from ORD)
LAX-SFO AA,DL,UA,AS,WN (NK serves OAK instead of SFO in the San Francisco Bay Area)

Other routes out of LAX that are served nonstop from LAX on all 3 of the US3 carriers:
LAX-ABQ AA,DL,UA,WN
LAX-AUS AA,DL,UA,WN
LAX-ASE AA,DL,UA (seasonal on all 3 US3 carriers)
LAX-BZN AA,DL,UA (seasonal on all 3 US3 carriers)
LAX-JAC AA,DL,UA (seasonal on all 3 US3 carriers)
LAX-OGG AA,DL,UA,AS,HA
LAX-KOA AA,DL,UA,HA (seasonal on HA)
LAX-LIH AA,DL,UA,HA
LAX-MEX AA,DL,UA,AM,AS,4O (UA is discontinuing LAX-MEX nonstop service on October 4th)
LAX-PVR AA,DL,UA,AS,WN,4O (seasonal on UA)
LAX-SMF AA,DL,UA,WN
LAX-SLC AA,DL,UA,WN
LAX-SAT AA,DL,UA,WN
LAX-SJD AA,DL,UA,AS,WN,4O (seasonal on UA)
LAX-PVG AA,DL,UA,MU
LAX-SYD AA,DL,UA,QF,VA
LAX-TUS AA,DL,UA,WN

AA, DL, and UA all also serve TYO, NYC, and WAS nonstop from LAX, but NRT, HND, JFK, EWR, IAD, and DCA do not have nonstop service from LAX on all 3 of the US3.

RDU does have nonstop service to WAS on AA, DL, UA, and WN, but none of the carriers have nonstop service to all 3 DC airports from RDU. DL serves DCA and BWI nonstop from RDU, AA only serves DCA nonstop from RDU, UA only serves IAD nonstop from RDU, and WN only serves BWI nonstop from RDU.

Kind of in the spirit of these, CVG-DEN has DL/WN/UA/G4/F9.

Lots of LAX routes since it’s a hub for all three, though certainly not a very big one for all of them. AUS-LAX, plus Southwest. Or an AA/UA hub with flights to a DL hub, or DL/UA hub to an AA hub (if any of the former exist aside from LAX) etc.

Not quite. AA does not operate SFO-BOS. That was many many many moons ago.

AS does operate sfo-bos

To be clear
AA HND-LAX
UA NRT-LAX
DL HND-LAX

DL doesn't serve NYC from Tokyo anymore.
With NH, JL, AA and UA on the route, DL stopped serving NYC non-stop and now routes through DTW, MSP, PDX, LAX, or ATL to LGA, EWR and JFK.

Routes all three fly...
AA, UA and DL all fly LAX-SYD on their own EQ.

AA flies both LAX-NRT and LAX-HND.

I think it would be more appropriate to distinguish which of the big 3 have mainline.

It would make sense to add each other’s flight number and cooperate on all these LAX route reduce runway congestion and switch to mainline

And to think about how quick people are to complain of a lack of competition in the U.S. domestic market...

LAX-SYD is almost certainly the longest route flown by all US3.
