And Saratov Airlines suspended operations today after Rosaviatsia failed to approve an extension to its operating certificate. The 3 EJets have been flown out of Russia.

Good, Rosaviatsa's no BS approach to these pseudo-airlines is an example other countries should follow, especially in Latin America and Africa where accidents only are a matter of when and not if.

It would have been nicer if the Russian regulator had decided to intervene with Saratov Airlines before their crash and not after. So this airline's less than stellar operations were news to them? Were they asleep at the wheel? Hindsight is 20/20.
So, please, spare us the "example other countries should follow". Russia's aviation is not particularly a safety-first culture gem.
