Liverpool FC flew up from Charlotte to New Jersey last night. Any idea what this is and who operates it? Nothing on Flightaware for flights between CLT and EWR that fits...

Looks like a Delta 757, they have several in VIP configuration.

Looks like a winner...DL8877 certainly looks like a chartered flight and the arrival time fits (on the Flightaware list of flights it showed a completely different arrival time)

Besiktas flew from Istanbul directly to the Faroe Islands, where they will have to play a Europa League qualifier against B36 Thorshavn. They used A319 A6-RRJ of Rotana Jet for that:

Maleth-Aero´s B735, 9H-MAC, was carrying the Portuguese team Rio Ave from yesterday´s game in Poland. They routed WMI-OPO (Warsaw-Porto).

I wonder if it wasn´t for this Europe and Champions league games how many charter companies will disapear?

Definitely JOTA Aviation would have had hardly any other business until fairly recently. Their BAe 146s have always been busy shuttling around British football clubs, but just recently, they acquired a few freighters, so they have another source of income now.

The next round of Champions League qualifiers is up on Tuesday and Wednesday and in A319 A6-RRJ of Rotana Jet, we seem to have a new regular player in field, flying for FC Astana this time round:

Dinamo Zagreb are on their way to Israel today, using Croatia Airlines' A319 9A-CTG for their away trip to Hapoel Be'er Sheva.

Later today, Legia Warsaw will travel to Slovakia for their game against Spartak Trnava, using a LOT EMB-170 from Warsaw to Bratislava.

A6-RRJ is en route from Astana to Billund already with the FC Astana team on board, currently over Latvia.

Next round of the Champions League qualifiers is on 7 and 8 August 2018. One team has already traveled today, Dinamo Zagreb. For their long trip to Kazakhstan to face FC Astana, they hired A319 4K-8888 from Azerbaijan Airlines' VIP department. There are definitely worse ways to travel ... :)

Vitesse fan here. :box:

For the Romania trip against Viitorul we chartered an ATR-72 from Alsie Express.

Interesting all black scheme. Never seen it before. It might be used again for the journey to Basel.

Good luck on thursday! Tougher gig for us I'm afraid. You guys should be in the Champions League. Interesting game for Ricky too. Hope he has an offday. :P

Not sure how strong we actually are, but a manager change might just tilt it for us now. Basel will travel with People's Viennaline from BSL to Weeze/Niederrhein btw!

OE-LTK of People's Viennaline is now on its way to Weeze as PEV650. Should arrive slightly later than initially planned thus ...

Rosenborg BK will also travel today, from Trondheim to Cork, using 9H-MAC of Maleth Aero.

The super-strict night flight restrictions mean that Shkendija will not be able to depart from Salzburg Airport tonight, but have to drive to Linz first, from where a CSA ATR-72 will take them back home to Macedonia.

http://championsleaguecharters.blogspot ... g-7-8.html

Currently, an Ural Airlines A320 is on its way to Thessaloniki too, to pick up the beaten Spartak Moscow after a 2-3 loss in the first leg of the 3rd round qualifier against PAOK Saloniki.

Interesting indeed, Ricky did what Ricky does, though obviously this was fairly unfortunate for Vitesse in the end. Vitesse will travel to Basel with Sprint Air next week, using one of their ATR-72s.

Champions League qualifiers go on to another stage this week, the play-off that defines which are the six teams that join the 26 teams that are already qualified:

http://championsleaguecharters.blogspot ... t-leg.html

PAOK Saloniki traveled to Lisbon yesterday already. Clubs to travel today include Salzburg (off to Belgrade with People's Viennaline) and PSV Eindhoven (to BATE Borisov, flying to Minsk with Maleth-Aero).

Hey congrats with the win and progress! Bit unlucky with the red card in the return leg, but we weren't too bummed out with the elimination. It's no shame to lose to Basel. In fact Dutch football fans really admire your team for doing so well with not much cash to spend. The international club football results have been aweful here the last few years, so Basel often is being named in the media as an example of how it should be done. Good luck against Apollon! I'm rooting for you guys!

Getting back on topic. Great job in this threat! Vitesse indeed did travel with Sprint Air last week:

Spot on about PSV too. They're heading to Minsk at this very moment using Maleth-Aero's classy looking 737-500.

Thanks for the kind words. I am sure Vitesse will be back next year and up for a new challenge!

Basel's next opponent Apollon Limassol is doing a bit of a wild trip today, using Astra Airlines' BAe 146-300 SX-DIZ all the way from Paphos to Basel. That requires a stop en-route in Thessaloniki, because the old Jumbolino has not quite got the range to do the trip non-stop ...

Wild trip indeed. The hard-knock life of the smaller football teams in Europe.

Dinamo Kiev chartered an A321 from Windrose for their away game against Ajax in Amsterdam. UR-WRJ dropped them off on tuesday. And UR-WRT is picking them up today for the flight back to Kiev.

It seems that Young Boys' return from Zagreb was their last flight with this particular airline, as Skywork is now grounded.

In other news, the last three remaining qualifiers for the CL were PSV Eindhoven, SL Benfica and Crvena Zvezda from Belgrade. The latter will return home from Salzburg tomorrow, using an Air Serbia A319:

UEFA's latest baby, the Nations League kicks off this week, and interestingly, France have flown to Munich from Vélizy-Villacoublay outside Paris, an airfield that is basically Paris' VIP airbase, hidden in the outskirts of the big city:

- Hifly A340 from Porto to Münster-Osnabrück (Schalke vs. Porto)
- TUI Belgium and Travel Service B737-800 from Eindhoven to Barcelona (Barcelona vs. PSV)

This game, of searching for teams on FR24, never gets old for me on a thursday Europa League night. :D

Flying back home:
Arsenal in a Gainjet B752 after their game @ Vorskla Poltava (GNJ57, SX-RFA, Kiev-London)
Dynamo Kiev in an Ukraine International B738 after their game @ Astana (AUI534, UR-PSA, Astana-Kiev)
Ludogorets in a Bulgarian Air Charter A320 after their game @ Bayer Leverkusen (BUC1946, LX-LAE, Cologne-Varna)
Olympiakos in an Aegean Airlines A320 after their game @ Betis Sevilla (AEE4013, SX-DVL, Seville-Athens?)
Villarreal in a Privilige Style B752 after their game @ Rangers FC (PVG7996, EC-ISY, Glasgow-Valencia?)
Sporting (surprisingly) in an Iberia A332 after their game @ Qarabag (IBE2819, EC-MLP, Baku-Lisbon)

And not shown due FR24 limit:
Sevilla in a Privilege Style B763 after their game @ Standard Liege (PVG1990, EC-LZO, Liege-Seville)

I guess it will take the two clubs to finally act their age for it to become true and then we will see how many fans will travel across the South Atlantic. I will keep my eyes open on it for sure.

A very interesting preview for next week's Europa League fixtures btw, with FC Zürich, FC Salzburg and Eintracht Frankfurt supporters traveling in good numbers it seems:

- FCZ off to Varna (vs. Ludogorets) with Carpatair F100 and Germania A319
- Salzburg off to Glasgow with Enter Air and TUI Germany B738
- Eintracht off to Rome with TUI B738 (2x), Sundair A320, Luxair B738 and SunExpress Germany B738

According to some news they will be selling 10000 tickets to fans in Argentina, I don´t expect 10000 people travelling from Argentina to Spain in one day but that would be awesome to see!! Maybe this is a good opportunity for the Hifly A380 to show some work. ;) But that belong in another thread. :)

Further extra flights for the Copa Libertadores in Madrid include:

- 1x Air Europa EZE-MAD (not sure whether A330 or B787)
- 2x Aerolineas EZE-MAD (guess that will be A330/340s)
- 1x Estelar EZE-MAD (should be a HiFly A340)

Well, I was hoping for some more flights related to the game between River Plate and Boca Juniors in Madrid. Unless I missed something I saw 2 Aerolineas Argentinas, 1 Iberia and 1 Air Europe on Saturday doing EZE-MAD. Also 2 Hifly flights with the teams I guess, these on thurday, If I´m not mistaken.

I was hopping more diversity!! :(

The main aim was actually to have the game going on without the large numbers of massively aggressive supporters of both, Boca and River. Don't forget that there are loads of Argentine people around Europe anyway, particularly in Spain and Italy, so they could fill the stadium on their own, without having to draw scores of people across the Atlantic.

Meanwhile, Champions League is back for one more week in 2018 tomorrow and the day after. Manchester United will fly to Valencia on an Aeroflot A330-300 tomorrow and Juventus will travel to Berne on a Germania A319. Elsewhere, Bayern München is set to use a Lufthansa A350-900 for the first time on European trip. Gone seem the days of the LH A340-600 going everywhere with the Bayern on board.

The main aim was actually to have the game going on without the large numbers of massively aggressive supporters of both, Boca and River. Yes I know, but since there was 15000 tickets to be sold in Argentina I was expecting at least 2 or 3 charters with fans.

Thank you for your information, as always. :)
