Soccer Charters World Cup, Champions, Europa League, etc. Discussion Thread

Thu May 24, 2018 8:10 pm

Hello,

I searched the forum and couldn´t find any thread like this, there are a few regarding special events.

So I thought that could be interesting to have a thread where we can have special flights, charters, etc, of teams and supporters flying to the main football events, European or not and of course the World cup.

I´ll start:

Europa League Final, 16/05/18, Lyon, Marseille - Atlético Madrid

flights I could see on flightradar24, all bound to Madrid

PVG7996 - Privilege Style - B752 - EC-HDS
UX886 - Air Europa - B738 - EC-MUZ
UX2003 - Air Europa - A332 - EC-JQG
UX972 - Air Europa - B738 - EC-LTM
ENT532 - Enter Air - B738 - SP-ENW
ENT5684 - Enter Air - B738 - SP-ENL
ENT545 - Enter Air - B738 - SP-ESB
VY1236 - Vueling - A320 - EC-MGE
TVS2485 - Smart Wings - B738 - OK-TVJ
TVS3567 - Smart Wings - B738 - OK-TSE
MLT327 - Maleth Aero - ???? - I supose it was a B737-??? by their site but don´t know which.

Some of this may be regular flights but they are here because they left Lyon (LYS) just about the same time as all the others or in a short period of time.

So I hope that there are other guys curious about this as I am and that we can exchange our findings in this thread, specialy knowing that the World Cup is coming and I bet air transportation will be widely used, and , who knows, with some "rare" airframes.

PS: The Liverpool team used a Gainjet B734, SX-ATF, flight GNJ74, to fly from their home city to Kiev for tomorrow´s Champion League Final.

Thank you

From FR24, the plane carrying Real Madrid to Kiev:
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flig ... 0#117c7a79

PS946 (MAD-KBP) being upgauged to a 763 for tomorrow (and 29th):
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/ps946

And Vueling flight VY7591 for tomorrow from MAD
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/vy7591

Haven't find anything from Liverpool (or any UK airport), though, that's out of ordinary.

Yes GTC64 it's already been discussed but that thread is just for the final, so, instead of opening a thread for each big event, why not concentrate things?
So that, for example, in the world cup there's no need to open a new thread for every important game.
Having said this I hope this thread is not short lived.

This might help. Many flights departing from MAD to KBP over night now to make use of the time difference and the distance between Spain and Ukraine:

@joelatbsl

Thanks a lot, it helps indeed, more than 83 flights....wow.

I knew this blog/site but some time ago it was full of.....let's call it bad links with some virus aggregated, so I avoid to enter it.

It's gonna be interesting to check flightradar some hours after the game.

Anyway, thank you.

Hello,

does anyone knows how the Brazil national football team traveled to England?

They´re preparing the world cup there.

More, does anyone have knowledge of any other national team that already left their countries and how they traveled? Any special charters?

Brazil’s team chartered Air X’s VIP A343, flew GIG-LON (unsure which airport) yesterday. Registration was 9H-BIG.

SAA A340-600 ZS-SNC was doing a footy charter today with Liverpool fans to Kiev for the CL-finale tomorrow.

The Frankfurt flight is usually sitting on the airport all day waiting for the return flight in the evening, but today they used the time for a quick little FRA-LPL-KBP-FRA flight. Assume something similar on Sunday bringing the guys back?

Also: FlightRadar showing two SAA A330's into Kiev today. One from LHR and the other from LPL

They indeed did the same on Sunday, flying FRA-KBP-LPL-FRA before returning to JNB.

The Iranian national team is already in Russia!

Can anyone tell how it traveled?

I know there´s a blog with that informations but....maybe it´s just me but it´s full of pop-ups and, believe me, some malware too!!!

So, does anyone knows?

And any other information regarding other teams?

Thank you.

I believe the Iranian team travelled in a A310, does anyone have any details?

The portuguese team, one of their adversaries in the first phase of the tournament, is traveling right now to Zukhovski, ZIA, from Lisbon in a Air Charter X A340-300

Any other teams traveling the next days or already there, in Russia?

The Icelandic team is departing in an hour direct from KEF to Gelendzhik (GDZ, their base in Russia) aboard an Icelandair 757. Flight number is FI1486. Live stream here of when they arrived at the terminal, it should resume once they board later on:

Apparently France isn't traveling to Russia until Tuesday.

An interesting one to track flight wise will be Uruguay as they held camp in Montevideo and played a friendly vs Uzbekistan down there. They won't have a single game on European soil before traveling to Russia.

It's surely all about logistics, but I personally like the fact that Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland and Germany are supported by their countries' flag-carrier, even with special liveries. Guess, TAP, Iberia, Air France or British aren't so keen to be part of this "business"?

Would they not now go from either BHX or EMA due to the close proximity with St Georges Park?

It might just as well be the case that they assembled in Europe already. It would not be uncommon for a Senegal team to have a camp in France, with so many players based in France and/or having strong French connections.
