B757-200 SX-RFA positioned from St. Petersburg to Innsbruck after bringing the England team to Russia. Will it possibly pick up the Colombian team that stayed in Northern Italy? Kazan as its destination would actually fit the bill ...

Interesting news from Spain today with their manager Julen Lopetegui being silly enough to sign with Real Madrid while still in charge of the national team. Will the Wamos Air B747-400 that is due to fly out to Sochi tomorrow have space for his replacement? :D

Meanwhile, watch out for all the stuff heading to Moscow for the opening game, loads of Saudi B77Ws arriving with supporters already ...

Beside some 777´s I saw a Jordan Aviation 332, flight JAV3523 from Riyhad (RUH) to Moscow (VKO).

I don´t know how many Saudia daily flight Between Saudi Arabia and Moscow are scheduled but I saw at least 4 only today, and until now.

There are only few scheduled flights from Saudi Arabia to Moscow, with Saudia's World Cup specials using flight numbers that look like scheduled flights, even though these routes from Riyadh and Jeddah to Vnukovo are just temporary. There should have been seven flights yesterday, four today and another one tomorrow.

The Azerbaijan A340-600 4K-AI08 is also in town already, surely brought in some VIPs for the opening game tomorrow.

Now that all teams seem to be in Russia, the fans are arriving too. A load of Iran supporters arrived in St. Petersburg today on board an Iran Air Airbus A300-600, arriving from Tehran.

It will be interesting, in terms of aircraft type variety, to see what the Iranian fans will use to get to Rússia.

Mahan Air has for a couple of days already upgauged their daily IKA-VKO flight from the usual 310 to a 346. Presently a 343 and a 346 are on the way from IKA to LED bringing fans for tomorrow’s match against Morocco.

The Switzerland vs. Brazil game in Rostov on Sunday attracts quite a few bizjets:

http://worldcupcharters.blogspot.com/20 ... -2018.html

Interestingly enough, many of them leave after dropping off their PAX, some even across the Black Sea to Trabzon, Turkey. Another destination popular for the parking appears to be Krasnodar.

It appears that they have used Madrid as a staging post on the way from Latin America to Russia. Alrosa Avia also did a charter flight from Madrid to Samara with one of their B737s yesterday.

News around Latin America:

A broker company called Worldwide Charters in Canada has committed alleged fraud in 5 different countries (Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay and Argentina) by having been prepaid for the charter of aircraft months in advance to transport thousands of fans to Russia from the countries named aboved.

In the situation in Costa Rica, 300 travelers were left stranded when the company cancelled two days before first a A340 and then a B777 to take fans non stop to Russia leaving travel agencies scrambling to find open seats to get fans that prepaid up to $11,000 to get to watch their teams.

Thank you all you guys for keeping this thread alive.

Very interesting stuff being said here. (from my point of view).

I was expecting to see some charter flights operated by "old Russian machinery" but until now nothing.
Only from Iran we are getting some "different" stuff.

Well, we still have a month.

Generally not much „old Russian machinery“ left, a handful of planes maybe.

I guess the Russian airlines are focusing on and busy shuttling the fans around inside Russia during the World Cup. In addition, it is the main holiday season, so not much spare capacity available.

Many KEF-SVO flights today, both on FI and WW metal, including an appearance by newly delivered 753 TF-ISX in the new special livery for 100 years of Icelandic sovereignity:

I’d imagine many flights KEF-VOG and KEF-ROV for the other two games too.

TUIfly 738 on the way GOT - NOJ.

And also interesting to note that the WAMOS 744, after having dropped the Spanish fans at AER, positioned to MRV (the city is called Mineralnye Vody, in English Mineral Water) for overnight parking and is now returning to AER to bring them home.

Aeroflot operations on SVO-AMS-SVO is all A330 on 15 June 2018:

- SU 2550 SVO-AMS AIRBUS A330-200 Aeroflot VQ-BBG
- SU 2694 SVO-AMS AIRBUS A330-300 Aeroflot VQ-BEK

It was noted that Peruvians bought over 50,000 tickets thus far, and it';s estimated that roughly 30,000 people have traveled from Peru to Russia, how the heck did that many of them get to Russia? I am guessing a lot of oversold flights from LIM to Europe.

Egypt playing hosts Russia in St Petersburg tonight, and quite predictably, there is once again a massive airlift from Cairo to Russia, this time also using quite a number of EgyptAir's A330s!

While the World Cup is currently in full flow, the first few rounds of Champions League qualifying have been drawn yesterday. The preliminaries start as early as next week and from July on, there will be qualifying action around Europe just about every week. Surely some interesting charter flight arrangements coming up there too.

Meanwhile, Uruguayan fans are arriving in Rostov from Moscow today. They seem to have some sort of base camp in the capital ...

There were three Tunisair A320s in Volgograd for the England vs. Tunisia game the other day and just one commercial charter flight from England, an Aigle Azur A320 from Stansted.

Both SAS A320neos that went to Nizhny Novgorod did round trips from/to Stockholm. One of them is on football duty again now, having just arrived in Samara with Danish supporters for today's game Denmark vs. Australia.

Currently on the way to Kaliningrad is a Helvetic Fokker 100 with Swiss supporters for the Serbia-Switzerland game tomorrow.

For tomorrow's last game of Egypt Volgograd has been chosen as the location and somehow the access to VOG once again seems to be more difficult than to other places around Russia. Just one A330-200 of Egypt Air expected at VOG to pick up some fans at the end of this World Cup journey for Egypt. A journey that has ended in a first round exit obviously ...

In approx. one hour, at 2.40 pm Icelandic time FI1460 is scheduled from KEF to ROV also.

TF-KID is on the way north from Rostov again, possibly towards the Baltic states again. TF-ISF will go to MRV again, just like its Icelandair counterpart for the last game in Volgograd.

Meanwhile, talking about Volgograd, Egypt Air's A330-200 SU-GCH is getting ready for the trip back home to Cairo.

Meanwhile, the fairly long list of Air Serbia and Aviolet flights from BEG to SVO has been narrowed to just the one flight tomorrow, to be operated by an Air Serbia A319.

I was hoping for some long distance charters for games involving teams from South America or Australia or even Japan but it´s been a little disaponting, maybe in the next fase of the world cup.

Can anyone confirm a charter from Iran last wednesday to the Iran - Spain game, using a TU134?

Just found out about some badass longhaul flights from Mexico, involving Azerbaijan Airlines and one of their A340-500s, all the way from Toluca to Moscow Domodedovo. Probably the fans then flew on from DME to their final destination, because to my knowledge, Mexico have so far not been scheduled to play in Moscow.

Not sure about that Tu-134, seen that too though. There is a possibility that it had something to do with the game, but I am fairly sure the Western teams would not have gone for such charter equipment ...
