DOT fines British Airways - Extended Tarmac Delays

Wed May 23, 2018 9:12 pm

DOT is out with a civil consent order of $225,000 against British Airways resultant from violations of extended tarmac delay rules on two flights.

First incident involved BA202 traveling from BOS to LHR that was delayed for 4:51 with doors closed and pushed back on tarmac without offering an opportunity for passengers to deplane before the required 4 hour mark. Flight eventually departed.

The second incident involved BA218 from DEN to LHR which was delayed on the tarmac at DEN for 4:56 and similarly did not return to gate prior to the 4-hour mark to allow passengers to deplane. Flight was eventually canceled.
