US-Canada 5th Freedoms

Tue May 22, 2018 7:28 pm

Aside from CX and PR YVR-JFK, are there any others left?

PR YVR-JFK is also ending very shortly (if it hasn't already).

There have never been many Canada-US 5th freedoms.

Several have come and gone over the years though.

PR did state interest in a potential 5th freedom for YVR-IAH, in order to launch MNL-IAH.

LATAM ended their YYZ-JFK 5th freedom route not too long ago. Never flew it but found out about it in one of Ben Mutzabaugh's pieces on 5th freedom routes a while back where he flew it for the story.

I'm not sure about YYZ and YUL, but some US-Canada fifth freedoms from YVR included the aforementioned services to JFK on PR and CX, plus Qantas to SFO, Philippines to LAS and EWR, Cathay to SFO, Air Pacific to HNL

What about Royal Jordanian YUL-DTW?
There were many more from YUL back in the seventies.

Yes, including LH YUL to LAX but no local traffic was allowed, so it doesn't qualify as a 5th freedom.
