Major JetBlue announcement Thursday?

Thu May 17, 2018 4:35 am

To be fair this is a rumor inside the company.
But there is a lot of solid intel that JetBlue will be making a major announcement at the shareholder meeting. Now that the pilots have an agreement in principle (also details posted on Thursday) there is talk of a new fleet announcement or the 321lrs.
We will see.

...and here come the a.net fanboys saying something to the degree of, "If they're not adding any new routes, than I'm not interested..."
No, "FA" in my username does not stand for "flight attendant"...

I'm not interested unless they are buying the C-Series. Honestly the A321LR's can wait, they need something set in stone to replace the E190's.

My 2¢ says BOS/JFK or FLL-SAT.

The inminent purchase of A350 for long haul mint and the purchase of all major international terminals in MCO FLL and LAX to become the most international airline ever...

But still perpetually delayed

All flights will be delayed complimentary of the airline. Previously just most were!

Not likely. Today is the jetblue investor day. Something might be announced, though in years past people have gotten excited and not much has happened. As for the C-Series, if that’s the decision I don’t know that you’d see any announcement until after airbus finishes acquiring the program. Maybe during farnborough.

With B6 getting C, probably MCO-CLE/DTW/PIT/ORD.

Didn't we just go through this with Spirit less than a week ago? Three days of intense speculation and it turns out to just be essentially a customer service campaign.

If that is indeed the case I think it's a great move for B6, it has more range and better short field performance than the ERJ-190s.

Not to cause another dust-up, but since you are on the inside and you are using an exclamation mark, are you saying this is a fact? It's hard to tell with your writing style when to take you at your word versus assume it's just a guess. The exclamation mark tells me that you are saying this as fact so I'm just trying to be clear. Again.

I wish JetBlue Airways would build a hub like at Denver. They can win over Frontier Airlines & United Airlines. Southwest Airlines, good challenge.
Why endure the nightmare and congestion of LAX when BUR, LGB, ONT & SNA is so much easier to fly in and out of.

Who knows, but the pilot contract does include pay rates for both the e190/195 AND the cs100/300.

Their are many new cities in the Midwest and the South that JetBlue could expand to. Many may disagree, but I miss an airline like the old Eastern Airlines, that covered the eastern potion of the country like no other, their other issues not withstanding. But their coverage of cities large and small was massive probably to a fault, but a good strategy in principle.

Jetblue has moved into an amazing niche. A "premium" airline that dominates economy AND business class transcon flying out of BOS/JFK/FLL. AS is significantly reducing transcon flying since they can't compete and AA is slowly pulling down JFK to focus more on PHL. Right now things are booming in NYC/BOS/ South Florida/ California / SEA, people have money to spend. The average worker is taking more vacation - and spending more.

IMO getting into a 4 way slugfest at DEN is a terrible idea. And growth of smaller cities in the midwest will happen, over time. But with a lack of AC, an aggressive push into smaller markets in the midwest does not make much sense to me.

Ultimately Europe is what is going to drive growth. They can disrupt TATL flying like they disrupted transcon flying. Then they can use those midwest cities (that might not have been able to profitably support a flight to NYC/BOS on their own) as more feed for TATL flights. But connections and feed further west are crucial, since the European ULCC's will definitely trash yields on any cities they can reach.

Will JBLU fly the 321LR to Europe? highly likely. But their first 321neo's aren't coming until next year. They mentioned on their last call that it takes 2 years advance notice to Airbus to convert a 321NEO to a 321LR - but obviously they didn't say if they had already given this notice or not (my guess is they have). So if they can realistically start 3-4 European destinations about a year from now, there is not much point in announcing it now. May as well wait until they are ready to go on sale and leave the competition speculating that much longer.

AA is not "slowly pulling down" JFK whatsoever. It is moving around capacity - including additional capacity on trans-cons - but not pulling down flying. Not growing either, but don't mistake that with pulling down.

Alas not, it appears to be F9, based on the other thread,

Because the OP probably heard the quarterly BOD meeting is today at Long Island City (which it is), and assumed announcements would come from that based on recent positions newly created or recreated and filled internally (which they will at some point)...
