Iran Air is gonna resurrect its 747SP ?

Wed May 16, 2018 3:57 pm

Hi guys,
I heard some people say that Iran Air is gonna resurrect its 747SP and will continue to fly to PEK and some other places recently. Is it true or not :? ? Hope you guys can help me verify it :)
Thanks.

Cheers,
Harry

The only one might be even remotely an option is EP-IAC. http://www.747sp.com/747sp-production-list/21093-307/

I think no way. I think Airbus will find a way to funnel them a few more A330s. That SP is over 40 years old. Ain’t gonna happen.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Have to concur with Mr Jet.....
Those SP’s are not gonna fly again.
And as mentioned, there are enough Airbus making there way into Iran now..... easy enough to pick up some used widebodies if needed.

For the millionth time, the age of an aircraft is not the primary factor in the airworthiness of a given airframe.

So... as the website info shows the IAC does have chance to be resurrected and keep flying for a while ?

Yes, that's what i am considering... since IAC is alreay 41 years old now i think. Hard to fly again IMO. But ... who knows what will happen. (It has stopped flying for a while few years ago then it resurrected again and serviced again until 2016-June-11) That's why i hope u guys can verify it. :?

Tell that to the DC3s and Convairs still flying
the truth does matter, guys. too bad it's often quite subjective. the truth is beyond the mere facts and figures. it's beyond good and bad, right and wrong...

The Iran Air SPs are iconic. I remember seeing them so many times at many European hubs and thinking I wanted to fly on one of them to Iran. I wonder if there are any problems getting parts due to sanctions or if they have to get them from other existing aircraft.

Never say never. If Iran Air cannot get planes, which is a distinct possibility with a potential embargo being re-applied, this bird might be up sooner than later.

This seems unlikely but likely, considering the Boeing Iran deal fell through, I can see it happening. But I'm a B747 maniac so ill have hopes for every 747 story.
I just love the 747, as you already may have noticed.

As much as we all love the 747, the people of Iran deserve safer modern aircraft for their civil aviation industry. Airbus better hope they can find a way to circumvent the upcoming US sanctions. Otherwise it looks like Sukhoi are already planning to sell more Superjets to Iran in their place:
