I doudt Russia would be that agressive (and stupid). Shooting down a United States carrier would lead to an armed conflict that would probably eventually go nuclear.

and if Russia does ban US registered aircraft then yes, if they fly over Russia they are asking for it...

AA is more of a Target
than DL and UA anyway

it might not makes sense to the average American
but attacking an "American Airlines" aircraft with the obvious "Red White and Blue stripes"
will mean a lot more than taking down Delta or United.... to the Asian/Middle East/Eastern Europe population anyway

Pardon the ignorance, but the airline pays the overflight fees, correct? if that is so, then do airlines negotiate different fees? In other words, maybe either American began to reroute in preparation for fees they aren't willing to pay or as a sort of "protest" to basically say, if you try to get that much out of me I'll walk (figuratively)

but then again, Have no idea how overflight fees are negotiated or paid.
