If anything, they probably wanted as little noise as possible. EY's future in North America is at YYZ. Many carriers that have difficulty in America succeed at YYZ and in Canada in general, and I can definitely see EY redeploying American capacity in Canada. EY pulled out of DFW due to codeshare problems with AA, but still serves JFK, ORD, LAX, etc. Canada has several cities that could easily support flights on just O/D alone without needing any feed, so I see YUL, YYC, and YVR as very likely if that bilateral is ever expanded

LH658 wrote:I wonder why EY didn't go for YVR? EK has YYZ, QR has YUL, and EY should have chosen YVR.

Most likely outcome is move on- EY staff can try for a transfer only if there's an existing opening. And FYI there was a big cull of Sales staff across the outstations last OCT.

If it failed even after having received the help, then that seems to be a rather foregone conclusion....

It failed because AA wouldn’t cooperate with them anymore. When they did, it did fine.

1. EY and other Middle-Eastern carriers in general are always hiring and have many positions for advancement in other areas. Either, that’s just the way they operate or either because there is high turnover. You’d understand why if you’ve ever represented one.
2. EY staff may indeed have the opportunity to transfer.

Well the several outstation Sales staff got terminated by e-mail with 24 hours notice... I heard it wasn't pretty! And yes- the DFW Staff may indeed have a transfer opportunity (read: opportunity to apply) only IF a suitable opening exists at another port so I'd expect the result to be "move on".
3. Yes I was management at one of the ME3 years ago- I don't care to repeat the experience. Advancement was almost impossible unless you resigned and rejoined the company at a higher level- many of us wondered if there was an unofficial policy of don't promote from within.

We should probably limit future preclearance facilities to those airports that have more than one air carrier flying to the United States.
