Having worked in the industry 97-2002 I can say you are 100% correct. I’ve partied like there’s no tomorrow with flight crews up until a few hours before wheels up. I’ve never pulled as much tail in my life than during those wonderful years of my late teens and 20’s. Boy do I have stories.........

I wouldn’t have expected this from an Chinese carrier. Crew seem very sweet and innocent. But, I guess they destroy the myth that most, if not all, male crew are gay!

1) It's Asia. Different culture.

2) I would argue that when you're on a layover and staying on the company dime, it's not really "your own time". This is true of literally any job. When you go on a business trip paid for by your company, you're acting as a representative of your company the entire time you're on that trip. If your company finds video like this of you while on that trip, there are going to be repercussions. That's true regardless of your job and actually regardless of what part of the world you're in/from.

I'm having a hard time understanding how some people aren't getting this. The level of naivete about how the world actually works is a little surprising to me.

Sex during layovers (or any other time) between staff members can be “banned” on Asian airlines, as can anything that reflects poorly on the brand.

I hooked up with a Saudia attendant in Delhi last year, and she was super worried about keeping it discrete but when I walked her back to her room, her roommate had bought someone else back too. Every international flight attendant I’ve ever spoken to has said it’s a pretty sexually charged environment, but it is kept hidden from management.

I’ve worked in luxury hotels before and they are pretty stringent on how you behave in any form of company business - including in your own time in bars/clubs around the hotel where clientele might run into you. But it was a similar environment, you could point to any two members of staff at random and be pretty much guaranteed that they’d slept with each other regardless of gender, marital status or position.

If the company is paying them while they're on layover then you may have a point - otherwise, it's not the companies business unless it somehow discredits the company. Consensual sexual acts between two (or more) adults is not the companies business in most cases unless, somehow it reflects on the company. Unless this took place in a (semi-) public area of the hotel they use or someone told everyone they worked for the carrier before the acts took place, I don't see how it's the companies business.

I used to work for a multinational and my job required a lot of traveling. The company paid for my hotel, yes, but not because they needed me all night long, but because they needed me in the office at 9 am-ish. So, from 7pm when I left the office until 9am I was "free". I don't think they "minded" what I did during that time. I usually came back to the hotel, had a shower, got dressed, and went somewhere to be naughty. Of course no one recorded me, I was back in my hotel by 2-3 am and back in the office at 9 am sharp. Sometimes the layover included weekends and Saturday and Sunday I could do what I pleased. Was I supposed to stay in the hotel, display my best manners at the restaurant and drink nothing but bottled mineral water because they were paying for the hotel and my meals? Always behave as if the Big Brother was watching me?

There are some differences with the case we are analysing here. First, I didn't have to wear a uniform. Second, the risk of being recognised by a client in the hotel was ZERO. Third, I was on my own, which is always less conspicuous than being part of a group, and finally, because of my physical appearance, I would blend with the environment, and people would not point at me and say "this is the guy who works for...."

This is not an unusual thing, I don't know why so many of you are so uptight about it. You should see what the hotels that house the regional trainees are like! Some of the craziest times that I can remember where back when ExpressJet had just lost its exclusive contract with CO and was starting its branded operation, they were hiring a bunch of FA's and Pilots at the time and they put everyone up at the same hotel, that place was nothing but a huge orgy every night and all weekend long! On weekends they didn't have to go to the training center but weren't allowed to go home either so basically they had the weekend off stuck in a hotel all together and it was out of control! For the guys it was a running contest to see how many women they could sleep with each weekend and everyone knew that everyone was sleeping with everyone else and no one cared, there was no expectation of a long-term relationship. Awe good times!

Okay, as someone who has contact with CES inside, I think I can clear this thing up.

The CES statement only denies this video which is widely spread. This video was taken somewhere else and has nothing to do with CES.

However, this thing truly happened and it was recorded(and it is the reason why they were found out). Relevant people have already been fired.

The last thing, this affair happened in MAD not in China.
