Delta presentation at J.P.Morgan 3/13/2018

Thu Mar 15, 2018 6:31 pm

I could not catch the presentation and can't make the rebroadcast work.
I was wondering if any news of interest from Mr. Bastions speech or the Q & A after?
Thanks in advance

DL will not be investing in Air India, 797 is only a matter of time and Delta is very interested in being involved from an early stage (80 767s and 100 757s to replace in next 7-10 years), will continue to invest in the product (50% of free cash flow), major terminal capex projects continuing, want to continue to invest in the baggage handling system to give pax real-time information so they might be more inclined to check luggage rather than carry on, looking to improve the 'scrum' boarding process, DL sees big potential in biometrics for security screening and identity verification, expecting ~$50mm profit from the Trainer refinery in first quarter, complimentary of the current administration regarding its stance vis-a-vis foreign/5th freedom carriers, sees other opportunities to bring functions in-house to improve margins, will continue to upgauge and reduce reliance on regional, among other things.

This conference has, in the past, primarily gotten attention when the airlines all one by one (coincidentally) announce capacity cuts. Nobody is in the mood to do that now, so a quiet conference.

Thanks for the summary DC10.

Was the comment about the 767 and 757's taken directly from Bastian, and if so, does this indicate that the remaining 757's will start retirement in 2025. Or, is this over the next seven years?

They also need to start looking at the 77E's soon also.

The 77E isn't going anywhere anytime soon, they are getting the new D1 and PE seats concurrent with a heavy check, they'll stick around for another 10-15 years at least. Ditto for the 764.
