Mon Mar 12, 2018 4:11 pm

after foul order reported in cabin. It was originally reported as smoke in the cabin. I believe slides were activated and several people were injured.

Interesting that one passenger said he was shocked to find there was not a slide waiting for him when he took the overwing exit. He claims he was disoriented and confused when he made the 8 foot jump onto the tarmac. "It felt wrong when you're up there" he was quoted as saying. Will be interested to see the cause. Luckily only two people taken to hospitals.

Somebody didn't read the safety card in their seat-back pocket.

Not only are these incidents not related at all, they were on different aircraft types. 737-700 and 737-800.

Exactly. Plus, the wing has giant arrows painted on it that are then illuminated by the EVAC lights which I can see are turned ON in the video, telling you to slide off the back. Not only does everyone on board have the opportunity to know where to go by reading the SIC, but the pax in the OWWE seats should take the lead which is why we brief them, but they all but cut us off mid-brief with the "yeah yeah I sit here all the time..." and then here we have disoriented people not knowing where to go when they've been given multiple resources and again we hear a pax stating "I have your bag" which shouldn't even be a concern.... WHILE someone is filming with a phone. Passengers... you are your own problem.

Honestly ABQ is probably one of the best places you could hope to make an emergency landing. 8/26 is a huge runway, fire services are amazing, and there are 3 large hospitals within a 5-10 minute drive of the airport. I wonder if this bird will be repaired here in ABQ or ferried the short distance to DAL.

Precisely.

Clearly a little more focus on his environment, and a little less focus on his video, was in order.

Pun intended.

RWY 8-26 has been closed for several weeks, and will remain so until the end of April.

Yes sir I am aware as I see it weekly when I fly. I was talking in general as that runway is usually open and is certainly quite nice. Sorry for the confusion.
