I think it is back on track now. It has a couple setbacks a couple months ago but I think it is straightened out. Not sure if it delayed it any or not.

I saw Justin Meyer tweeted out a reply to someone asking about a CMH-MCI route. He said 3-5 years away. Maybe WN can add it when the new terminal is done. Also said YUL and YVR are longer term plays (not surprisingly).

I didn't see this posted in this thread. OneJet service to PIT. Looks like it caters to the business traveler but I did a check on a late May roundtrip and at about $350 it clearly not out of reach for those paying out of pocket. Sure would make going to Pittsburgh Penguins games a lot easier. The press release doesn't mention which terminal OneJet will be located.

They were arriving as I was departing yesterday. Parked at gate 61 (United), so terminal C.
Also, when this was originally announced there was supposed to be a MCI-MEM route as well, but that appears to have been quietly dropped before even starting.

Somewhere recently (maybe the MEM thread) I saw that it was still supposed to happen but it was pushed back. At this point who knows though.

Probably not. If anything, if the MCI-KEF route is successful it will further prove there is a TATL market from MCI which could spur additional flights. When factoring the KC metro and the surrounding feeder communities and towns in the region, MCI almost sends as many people to Europe as AUS.

Saw this on Twitter. I did pricing between Southwest and Spirit. 11/9-11/16 MCI-FLL-MCI. WN price was $Just shy of $50 less RT. (Included bag and seat pricing with Spirit)

In MCI for my first time this weekend. Why the strange split the terminals in half. Why not just a blocked of area for security and than have the rest of the terminal be past security? Seems like a ridiculously waste of space?

There's not much more than can be done with those terminals without drastic reconstruction (like adding an upper level). They (there are three identical terminals, one of which is mothballed) are narrow semicircles with gates on the outer perimeter from one end to the other. The terminal has to have both pre-security and post-security (aka sterile) areas, of course. Outside of the sterile area you need quite a bit of space -- ticket counters, kiosk area, bag drop, restrooms, baggage claim, baggage service office, security screening, passenger holding for security screening, meet & greet waiting area, and minimal services like a newsstand. Let's say they were to consolidate all this outside-security stuff in the middle 1/3 of the terminal ring and then the other 2/3 of the terminal ring was sterile for gates and services. The gate areas would be a whole lot more roomy and you could get away with just two security checkpionts. Or if you put the non-sterile 1/3 at one end then you could have just one security checkpiont and all the gates and sterile-area services in one area. The problem with this is you'd lose 1/3 of your gates. You'd also have some pretty long walks -- the terminals are looong if you have to circumnavigate them left to right. These terminal rings are just too shallow to do much with. And so the airport is doing the most drastic renovation -- they are replacing them with an entirely new conventional terminal.

Does anyone have any info on what's over at the maintenance operation there. I saw lots of interesting stuff, from an AC B789 (!) to what looked like an old AK 727 being broken up. There were what looked like some old B744F's too. Very cool.

Hopefully they don't do like MSY and underbuild capacity. I could see 39 gates getting tight by 2023 if growth is good.

The above-ground corridor between concourses seems to be a limiting factor for expansion/utilization. Guess it is cheaper than a tunnel, but with the work required it doesn't seem like it would be that big of an issue.

There are gates right next to the “town square” area which is directly in front of the check-in counters, but no security area mentioned anywhere. Where are the security lines going?

From the way the "business lounge" is described, it looks like a generic club/lounge like "The Club in SJC/SEA/ATL" may be in the works.

Looks like another delay in the terminal as airlines are going to revisit the size and scope of it because of costs.
