Airline Route has the initial routes posted. Mostly hub to hub plus a few hub to large spokes such as DCA, MCO, LAS and SEA.

I wonder if UA wishes they could get their hands on more 753s. 234 seats with a sizable first class cabin has to be a CASM super star. Does anyone know if UA will be putting the scimitar caps on the 753s? If yes, what’s the timeline? If no, why not? The 753 operates on some pretty long stage lengths. One would think that the scimitar caps would increase efficiency.

Additionally, does anyone know if UA will be updating the cabin (overheads, side walls) when they go in for slim like refits?

What a sardine can.
I've flown in CO/UA 753s many times, starting back when CO had just three rows of first (total seats was 222, as I recall), then when they went to a more elite-pleasing 6 rows of F (reduced cap to 216, I think).
But 234 is lunacy.
Seat pitch seems, at 31, to be the new norm. But that's a LOT more people for a lot SAME overhead bin space.

But what do I care; I drop kicked United to the curb last year. I won't have to deal with this slave ship on the 7-hour ANC-IAH route this summer!

Make sure you don’t travel on DL either. They have 234 seats on their 757-300. If you prefer more room there is always the option for a first class seat or E+.

The 753 has always been an interesting aircraft.Primarily used in two completely different ways.In Europe for charter flights circa 275 pax or in the USA 2/3 class 'legacy' airlines at 210-234 (as of now it seems). Then there is Iceland somewhere in the middle I guess (no fish comments!)

But in all uses it delivers an incredible ROI.Ok it is range limited ,but that does not seem to hurt it on the missions it flies.

I couldn't help noticing the Airbus official recently stating that there new exit arrangement on the A321LR allowed that design to legally go up to 250 pax.OK that's not 275 (you will never see this again in a NB imho). But I really can see a 'simple stretch' trading pax for range coming from Airbus.I personally have no doubt that is why the 797 goes all the way to the old 753 size of 275 as otherwise it could not compete with any 'simple' 321 stretch to 250.We shall see.Perhaps they will compliment each other.

It's possible that some of those seats are planned to be Basic Economy only which would help with the overhead bin space issues.

They probably do. CO picked up 4 more after their initial order from the former ATA.

The UA and DL seat maps are in fact identical aside from row numbering and which rows are designated E+.

It looks like Delta's 753s have been in the slimline, high-density (properly called cramped) config since March 2015.

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-a ... ad-12.html

UA has had plenty of time to gauge acceptance of Delta's layout. They could have interviewed passengers departing the plane and asked about comfort.

I think some folks/websites are misinterpreting data that is released by the airline.

First, if the first plane is in mod right now, and needs to get its STC, would UA even know the exact date of service entry yet? June 7 seems awfully specific for being that far into the future.

Second, regardless of whether the first one will enter service June 7 or not, the "Airline Route" source (which "World Airline News" is simply regurgitating) simply shows what appears to be the entire 757-300 schedule at UA, and just assumed that magically, overnight, every 757-300 will suddenly become the 234-seat version.

Point is, outside of UA, I doubt anyone really knows when the first revenue flight will be, or which route it will be on. But eventually every 757-300 will get that configuration, so, by default, every 757-300 route will get it.

It's funny how Delta introduced the same configuration some time ago without so much as a peep from bloggers or aviation writers, but when United does the same, it's met with a chorus of derisive articles and negative attention.

I'm pretty sure June 7 is just the date the summer schedule officially begins this year. It seems likely that any reconfigured aircraft will rotate throughout the system rather than being allocated to just certain routes. That's even the way Polaris 767s are being used, AFAIK.

Good news for you. Look at the UA 737-9max thread. It will be doing IAH-ANC so you can rest easy now knowing it won’t be on that route.

Do have a question for you. So if you “drop kicked United to the curb” why do you even have an opinion on something that won’t affect you and just makes the UA planes the same as the other carrier flyjng 757-300’s in the USA? That doesn’t seem to add up for some reason?

When you flew the United 757 many times, did you notice it is the only narrowbody with an economy class closet and two galleys? Did you notice that almost all of econony is actually 32 inch pitch unlike the rest of the airline? Did you notice the lavatories are the older style that is wider than the 737s?

The UA 757s had a configuation that was a relic of the past.
